Meet the breeder

I'm Gale B., the breeder behind Northern CA Shorkies located in Winters, CA. My puppies are bred for temperament and good breed standards I strive for excellence and total transparency in all interactions with potential buyers. I have been breeding dogs for 45+ years and pride myself on honesty and integrity. I screen for home placement suitability.

Q. & A. with Gale

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have loved dogs for many years. When my children were younger we raised Queensland heelers, then Tibetan mastiff. As I have gotten older I have gravitated to the smaller loveable lap dogs.
  • What makes your program special?

Raised with hands on 24/7 care with the advantage of a veterinarian in my home for constant advice. I only breed my females when they have reached emotional readiness. Never prior to 18 months. Max of 1 time per year and I never over breed. Each litter is loved and socialized to the max.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red, gold and white, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Gale was very helpful from the very beginning of our adoption journey. As soon as we reserved our puppy, she reached out to us and started sending photos of Ally with updates on her progress. Gale made it possible for us to stay in touch by texting and through the Good Dog webpage. She makes an effort to get to know the adoptive family and shares information on the type of food and feeding schedules. She even sent us home with puppy food, toys and treats. We were very impressed with Gale’s professionalism and the interest she applies for the care of her puppies. Thank you Gale for all your help and support.
