Meet the breeder

I'm Deborah T., the breeder behind Puppies in a Box Shih tzus located in Center Point, IA. I strive for intelligent and healthy babies. I do health testing on all my dogs. They are always socialized. I usually only have two- three litters a year. Raised in my home. I am AKC inspected and vet checked. Prospective owners are welcome to see my home and the dogs.

Q. & A. with Deborah

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have always loved dogs and could not find a shih tzu when I wanted one. A good friend had a very nice female and male and due to health has to place them. That's how it all started!
  • What makes your program special?

I want to do it all right. I breed quality, not quantity. I want whatever I produce to give many years of pleasure to their adopters.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include chocolate and tan, chocolate, sable, black and tan, black, liver, blue, red, and black gold and silver. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
