Meet the breeder

I'm Madison H., the breeder behind Rainy Day Dachshunds located in Canby, OR. Each of our dachshunds is raised in a home environment, where they receive plenty of love, attention, and early socialization to ensure they grow into confident, affectionate companions. We focus on breeding dogs with exceptional health, temperament, and conformation.

Q. & A. with Madison

  • Why did you start breeding?

I grew up in a family that bred and showed AKC-registered dogs for many years, surrounded by the dedication, care, and knowledge required to raise healthy, well-tempered dogs. Being part of that world inspired my lifelong love for dogs and my desire to continue the family legacy.
  • What makes your program special?

Our breeding program is built on a foundation of health, temperament, and care. We prioritize health above all, screening our adults for common dachshund concerns such as back, eye, and heart conditions, so that our puppies have the strongest possible start in life.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, chocolate, brindle, chocolate and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
