I'm David & Cara P., the breeder behind Red Skye Puppies located in Republic, MO. Our puppies are raised in our home with lots of love as part of our family. We breed for health and temperament first & foremost and use a combination of protocols including ENS, ESI, Puppy Culture & Avidog in our program to raise the healthiest and most well-adjusted family companions that we can.

Why did you start breeding?
We started breeding Cavaliers ten years ago when we fell in love with their affectionate & sweet personalities. Three years ago, we had our first litter of Cavapoos & instantly fell in love with the sweet disposition they got from the Cavalier & intelligence from the poodle. Today, we breed both Cavaliers & Cavapoos with the occasional Poodle litter & cannot imagine doing anything else!What makes your program special?
Our dogs are much more than just breeding dogs to us- they are very important members of our family! They live in our home with us & spend their days getting lots of walks, playing & snuggling. We raise our puppies so they get exposed to many situations & sounds in addition to the ENS, ESI & Puppy Culture protocols that we follow to raise the healthiest dogs with the best possible temperaments.What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Poodle puppies are miniature size. Cavapoo puppies include toy and miniature sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies include blenheim, ruby, black and tan, and tri-color. Poodle puppies include apricot, black, red, parti, and phantom. Cavapoo puppies include blenheim, tri-color, sable, black and white, black and tan, red, cream, black, and apricot. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Program update on 12 Aug •…Welcome to Red Skye Puppies! We raise F1 Cavapoo puppies and the two breeds that make a Cavapoo- AKC Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and AKC Poodles. We have spent the past 12 years trying to develop the absolute best breeding program we possibly can, and it is our hope that all of our puppies have the healthiest and most fulfilling lives well past when they leave our home and into their senior years. We breed only to better the breed with the goals of health, temperament and good confirmation always in mind. All of our dogs and puppies are much more than just breeding dogs to us. They are very important members of our family! All of our dogs live in our home with us and our two year old daughter as pets first and spend their days getting plenty of walks, playing, sunbathing and snuggling on the couch and in our bed. Our moms raise their puppies next to our bed in our bedroom for the first 1-4 weeks of their lives and then in the middle of our living room for the final weeks of their time with us so that the puppies get exposed to normal everyday life situations and sounds. Additionally, we start Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) with the puppies at 3 days old as well as other puppy raising techniques to ensure the puppies develop with the best temperaments possible. As the puppies get older, we also start the potty training and crate training processes prior to the puppies leaving for their forever families. All of our dogs are American Kennel Club (AKC) registered so that we can appropriately track their pedigrees and make the best breeding decisions possible. Additionally, all of our parent dogs have had extensive DNA testing done for all breed relevant genetic conditions, some through multiple labs and for over 230+ diseases to ensure accuracy so that nothing will be passed down to the puppies that we can prevent. Additionally, we also do OFA Health Testing through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals and use these results to ensure the healthiest puppies possible. All of our puppies go home with a health certificate, health record, health guarantee, microchip registered to their new owners with complimentary lifetime registration, thirty days of free pet insurance, up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations and deworming and a puppy go home bag filled with goodies including a toy with the mom and littermates' scent on it, treat samples and more. We do not offer to ship our puppies via cargo on an airplane or ground transportation for their safety. However, we do offer personal delivery for all of our puppies all over the U.S. Often times, we will try to take a trip as a family to personally deliver our puppies to their new homes either by car or by flying in cabin with the puppy so that we can meet our puppy families and ensure the puppy’s safe delivery. If you need help getting your puppy to you, please do not hesitate to inquire about this service. We are always here to support any of our puppies and their new families in any way that we possibly can for the rest of their lives. Litter update on 10 Aug •…Our beautiful red Poodle litter is here! Nalani and Bo blessed us with 7 stunning girls. We are currently accepting reservations for four more girls. These girls should mature around 20 pounds fully grown as both parents are 20 pounds themselves. Bo is a super sweet, biddable and very smart 10/10 red intense Poodle. Nalani is one of the smartest dogs we have ever met, adventurous and affectionate. Combining these two have given us gorgeous deep red babies that will hopefully follow in their parents’ intelligent and biddable footsteps. Poodles are one of the most hypoallergenic and nonshedding breeds- good for people with allergies. Litter update on 10 Aug •…We have made our final selections for our Poodle litter and will have these three sweet girls open for reservation! Lavender bow is a beautiful intense red Agouti. Light blue bow is black abstract. Pink bow is intense red. These girls should all mature around 12-18 pounds +/- as adults. The light blue girl will most likely mature a little smaller than her siblings. All three are as sweet as can be! Program update on 22 July •…Everyone, please give a very warm welcome to our STUNNING Poodle litter! Our Pearl and Gideon welcomed 5 beautiful girls to the world 4 weeks ago. They are all very intense red (8-10/10 intensity) and darkening with age meaning they most likely inherited their mama’s Rufus gene which typically makes reds darken with age vs. fade. We have several rare agouti and black based sable puppies- these are colors you just can’t find normally (believe me, I’ve tried!) Because of the rarity of the colors, the parent’s incredible health testing and their amazing temperaments, we do plan to keep 1-2 puppies in our program to continue on Pearl’s line as she retires this year. DNA testing has already been sent out and should be back within the next 3-5 weeks to help us make our final selections. In the meantime, we will be taking reservations for the remaining 2 or 3 females. We are also expecting another all red Miniature Poodle litter this month. Both parents are around 20 pounds and should have all red Poodle puppies in the 7-10/10 intensity range. If you are on our Poodle waitlist, you will get first pick when individual puppies of both litters become available.

Program update on 02 July •…We have TWO upcoming litters confirmed! ❤️❤️ Both litters are for our smallest size F1 Cavapoos maturing around 12-15 pounds fully grown. They should be the perfect size for airline travel with a nice low to nonshedding wavy Cavapoo coat. About Kalea
Kalea is our sweet and loving AKC Blenheim Cavalier King Charles mama. She is about 12-13 pounds fully grown. She is the definition of a Cavalier- super loving and a complete lap dog. She just loves her people and getting to spend time doing whatever you are doing- planting in the garden, going for walks, relaxing on the couch, etc. She has had a full genetic panel run for over 230+ diseases as well as OFA testing to ensure that she will never pass anything down onto her puppies that could be prevented. She also comes from very solid Champion lines and is the daughter to our foundational stud who is still heart clear and totally healthy at over 8.5 years old!

About Gideon
Gideon is our super sweet, outgoing, fun loving toy Poodle. He is a very little guy with a big personality! He is always so happy and loves everyone- children, adults, dogs, etc. He truly does not know a stranger. We are so excited for all of the new genetic traits and diversity he will bring to our program. Firstly, Gideon has been tested for over 230+ genetic diseases, and he is 100% clear of all of them including some of the common Poodle variants such as IVDD and CDPA. He also has OFA health testing. Not only does he have a wonderful temperament, structure and health but he also is an extremely unique and beautiful color. His coloring is called Agouti Wolf Grey Sable, and while it is completely naturally occurring in the Poodle breed, it is very very rare for it to express. With the agouti color, each strand of hair has bands of rotating color between black & red. What this means is the color of the dog can change based on where the hair is cut and with each groom. We think this is so special, and we cannot wait to see more Agouti puppies come from his lines! He is also 9/10 for intense red and only 8 pounds which means he will give us a lot of those dark intense red puppies in a super small package- perfect for flying on the airplane as an adult!

About Nalani
Nalani is by far the smartest dog in our program. She learned to sit, shake and high five in one five minute session and continues to do all her "tricks" consistently. She is a very sweet and loving apricot AKC Miniature Poodle. She is the perfect compact size to go on hikes, cuddle and play all kinds of games. Nalani comes from very good Poodle lines, has been DNA tested for over 240 genetic diseases and is CHIC certified having passed all of her OFA health tests to ensure that she cannot pass anything on to her puppies that we can prevent for the healthiest puppies.

About Pearl
Pearl is our beautiful black AKC Registered Poodle. She is a very loving and affectionate girl. We initially added her to our program because of her unique and impressive genetics. Pearl has been tested and cleared of all genetic diseases and had OFA Health Testing completed. She also can throw the most colors out of any other dog in our program including sables, black and tans, tris, reds in all shades, blacks, blenheims, black and whites, etc. The list goes on! She is an excellent mama and sets an amazing foundation for all of her puppies. We feel very fortunate to have Pearl as part of our program.

About Clover
Clover is our beautifully marked AKC Tri Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Our goal when breeding is always to better the breed with a focus on health, temperament and conformation. Clover embodies all three of these goals and has the typical Cavalier personality of being super sweet, playful and affectionate. She is a second generation mama in our program from our sweet Tri Cavalier Violet and outgoing Blenheim Duke. Both Violet and Duke came from championship lines, and it shows in Clover’s confirmation. She is 17 pounds right in the official breed standard weight range for Cavaliers. Her mama, Violet, came from health tested lines and was still heart clear when she retired from our program at 6 years old, and her dad, Duke, is still heart clear at 6.5 years old as per the Mitral Valve Standard of Breeding for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels making us very excited to have Clover as part of the next generation of Cavaliers in our program. Not only does she come from a health tested lineage, but she also has had extensive genetic testing for over 230+ genetic diseases and OFA testing herself to ensure she cannot pass anything onto her puppies that we can prevent.

About Sherlock
Sherlock is our 12 pound AKC Miniature Poodle. He is a very sweet boy who loves to get pets, snuggle on the couch and most of all, play fetch! He comes from Champion lines and has had 13 Champions on the Dam side of his pedigree in the last four generations alone! He has also had all of his genetic tested and OFA Health testing to ensure the healthiest puppies and is CHIC (Canine Health Information Center) certified. We feel very fortunate to have Sherlock as part of our breeding program!

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA), Cardiac Evaluation
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
