Meet the breeder

I'm Donna G., the breeder behind Red Tartan Kennel located in Brownsdale, MN. I love being a breeder. It's so fulfilling to see the positive effect that a beloved, furry companion can have on its family. I am a small breeder allowing me to give each of my puppies, dogs, and breedings the proper care and attention they each deserve. I focus on healthy genetics and well adjusted temperments. I am dedicated to providing happy, healthy, and well-socialized pups for others to welcome into their family. I love my pups and know you will love them, too! Our pups come with the parent's genetic testing results, Vet checks and first shots and deworming and a health guarantee.

Q. & A. with Donna

  • Why did you start breeding?

I come from a show/breeder background of Afghan hounds. We started a small farm in mid life, and well, Afghan Hounds don't mesh with farming. :D So we started with collies. Over the years, each of my collies has brought so much happiness to me throughout their lives and I want to do my part to produce wonderful, healthy dogs that can bring other people joy as well, and to provide each of my puppies with loving homes where they can live happy lives.
  • What makes your program special?

I treasure each puppy in my program and give them all the attention and care that I possibly can. I work hard so my puppies can leave my home with confidence, ready to take on the world with their new family! Fully genetic tested parents means you know what you're getting in a puppy with health matters. I only breed dogs who will better the genetics and produce the healthiest puppies.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and rough coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black white and tan and blue merle and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Donna was amazing to deal with. “Chuck” is a healthy, very active pup. Our German Shepherd is still wondering what we were thinking😁! We couldn’t be more thrilled.
