Meet the breeder

I'm Jacki R., the breeder behind Riehl’s Boykin Spaniels located in Hortonville, WI. Our pups are bred for health, temperament, and are not only amazing hunters, but also great family pets.

Q. & A. with Jacki

  • Why did you start breeding?

As a kid, my parents would breed our golden retriever. I bought another golden when I graduated high school, and I bred her as well. As a mother, I wanted my kids to have the same wonderful experience, so we decided to breed our amazing male and female Boykin Spaniels. These dogs are very similar temperament to goldens, but have a great hunting drive, and not as much shedding.
  • What makes your program special?

Our puppies are tested for all Boykin Spaniel Society’s requirements and the litter is registered with them. Our male and female are both clear of all tests required and are not carriers of any genetic defects that could be passed down. We socialize our puppies with people, kids, other dogs, and even cats. We introduce them to water, weather permitting, since we live on a river.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are chocolate. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
