Meet the breeder

I'm Shawnee D., the breeder behind Rockindachs located in Toquerville, UT. Since 2014, we’ve purpose-raised Miniature Dachshunds built for Rock-Solid Health and Unwavering Character. Every companion comes backed by a lifetime health guarantee and a family that supports yours — not just at go-home, but for life.

Q. & A. with Shawnee

  • Why did you start breeding?

Breeding is in my bones. Growing up on a hobby farm with horses, goats, rabbits, and more breeds of dogs than I can count, animal care was simply life. Assisting my mom’s breeding program from childhood into adulthood gave me a foundation most spend decades trying to build. RockinDachs is where that lifetime of learning found its true home.
  • What makes your program special?

At 7 weeks every pup undergoes our 4-point temperament assessment — measuring connection, compliance, confidence, and drive — so we can match each companion to the family they’ll truly thrive with. Paired with DNA testing, a lifetime health guarantee, and support for the life of your dog, we don’t just place puppies. We set families up for life.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include wirehaired, smooth, and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, red, black, chocolate, brindle, black and tan, black and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

We had a great experience with Shawnee and her co-breeder. Everything worked out well and our not-pup is a beautiful. Wonderful companion that walked into our house and took over, a Dachshunds tend to do. Brownie is already a big part of our family and we chat with our breeders steadily. It couldn't have been a better experience.

Shawnee was very responsive, knowledgeable and actively communicated with me through the entire process! My pup was well cared for, healthy and very happy! After I picked up our sweet pup she was still available to answer any questions or give advice. I’d highly recommend working with her!

Shawnee was amazing. But beyond that, our little puppy is amazing complete wonder - she is beautiful, and so so smart. When our other two dogs passed, we had a large void in our life to fill. But Hilda came along and she has done that and more. I would highly recommend Rockindachs - logistics were so easy, Shawnee was super friendly and helpful, and the breeding is top notch. Can’t say enough good things!

I am so thankful that we found Rockindachs for our family’s first ever daschund. Millie has been such an amazing little pup, and she is the perfect fit for our family. I really appreciated that they did temperament/personality testing and mentioned that Millie would be perfect for first time owners. She is the perfect mix of playful/snuggly for our home. I have also appreciated Shawnee’s continued help even after we brought Millie home. She has answered many of my questions, and it has been comforting to have that experienced advice during the puppy stages. It has all around been a great experience getting our girl through Rockindachs, and we can’t wait to continue to spoil her for many years to come.

Shawnee was very responsive and kept me updated on Scout and me every week. The process was flawless to pick up our dog. Very accommodating and was a breeze when picking up Scout. Shawnee gave us his updated medical history and a box that helped us on the flight back home. Amazing lil guy as he fit right in. We kept the name Scout after learning how he got the name from the cobreeder
