Meet the breeder

I'm Tara R., the breeder behind Roover's Oklahoma Shorkies located in Norman, OK. We started breeding in 2021 with our Shorkie, Millie. She had 20 puppies. Now our 2nd generation Shorkie, Mollie is our dame; she has had 10 puppies so far. We are breeding her with a Shih Tzu, Tuff. Our Shorkies are raised in our home around loving humans, other dogs, and their littermates.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    We started breeding Shorkies in 2021. I was in love with our two Shorkies and wanted to share that breed with others. They all have personalities and we allow them to play and learn in our home with their birth momma (Mollie Mae), their Nonnie (Millie Belle grandma), and this year we will introduce Maggie Tate our 1 year old (their sister) to raising pups. We also have Bert our 12 yr old pup.

  • What makes your program special?

    I love to share day by day photos and videos of our puppies growing in our home. Roover's Oklahoma Shorkies is on FB. We invite our forever families to visit their pups as they grow. They remain inside until they get their first shots at six weeks old. At six weeks we typically have all of our puppies spoken for and named so we can call them by their forever names here at their birth home.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include merle, white, liver and white, brindle, black white and silver, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Tara

Tara has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Tara partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“We want each of our puppies to go to loving homes who are able to care for them for their lifetime. We have had 3 puppies who were approved even though the families were going through a cancer journey. In those cases we make sure that there is another family member willing to love and nurture the puppy or we as the breeder will assist in the rehoming of the pup should the owner not be able to care for them. No one facing a terminal illness should be denied of love from a puppy, but there are additional steps we go over when we sign the contract. We love our puppies and do what is best for them. ”

Price

Puppy prices include a $400 non-refundable deposit that secures a specific puppy. The remaining $400 is due at pickup, before taxes & fees.

Tara may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy.
