I'm Shera J., the breeder behind Royal Roots Cavaliers located in Wichita, KS. We are a small, loving, home-based family breeder of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. As a homeschool family, our puppies are raised right in the heart of our home, surrounded by daily life, gentle handling, and lots of attention from day one. Our Cavaliers are more than just pets—they are part of our family. Because of this, each puppy is well-socialized, used to children, and exposed to everyday household sounds and routines. This helps them grow into confident, affectionate companions who transition easily into their new homes. We take great pride in giving our puppies the very best start in life. They are fed high-quality, premium puppy food and receive attentive care every step of the way. All puppies will be up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and preventative care before going to their new families. Our puppies are ACA (American Canine Association) registered and come with official registration papers. We are committed to raising healthy, happy, and well-loved Cavaliers, and to helping each puppy find the perfect forever home where they will be cherished just as much as they are here.

Why did you start breeding?
Our love for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels began in 2013 when we welcomed our very first Cavalier into our home. From the moment we met the breed, we were drawn to their gentle, affectionate nature and their incredibly loyal, cuddly personalities. Cavaliers have a special way of connecting with people, and we quickly saw how wonderful they are with children. Their sweet temperament and loving spirit made them the perfect fit for our family, and over time, they truly became part of our everyday life. As the years went on, our appreciation for the breed only deepened. We began to learn more about their care, their needs, and what makes them such amazing companions. Through that experience, we knew that one day we wanted to share this breed with other families. Just as importantly, we wanted to create an opportunity for our children to be involved in something meaningful—to learn responsibility, compassion, and the joy that comes from raising and caring for animals. In 2023, we took the first step toward that dream by bringing home our female Cavalier. She quickly became a cherished member of our family and confirmed everything we loved about the breed. The following year, we added our male, with the intention of beginning our small, family-based breeding program. From the very beginning, our goal has been to keep this a hands-on, family-centered experience where our children can be involved every step of the way. For us, breeding Cavaliers is about much more than just raising puppies. It is about providing a loving, nurturing environment where each puppy is cared for from the very start of life. Our puppies are raised in our home, surrounded by daily family life, ensuring they are well-socialized, comfortable with children, and used to everyday sounds and interactions. We are proud to raise our Cavaliers with love, care, and intention. Each puppy represents not only the wonderful qualities of this breed but also the values we strive to teach our family. It brings us great joy to share these special dogs with other families and to know they will be loved just as much in their new homes.What makes your program special?
What makes our breeding program special is the heart, intention, and family-centered environment we provide for every puppy we raise. We are a homeschool family of 13 years with two boys and one girl, and our home is full of daily activity, learning, and love. Because our puppies are raised right alongside us, they are constantly handled, played with, and included in everyday life. This helps them become naturally well-socialized, comfortable with children, and well-adjusted to a family environment from the very beginning. Our journey with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels began back in 2013, and over the years we have developed a deep love and understanding of the breed. This isn’t something we started on a whim—our breeding program is built on years of experience, appreciation, and a genuine passion for these sweet, loyal, and affectionate dogs. We also believe strongly in involving our children in the process. Raising puppies together has been an opportunity to teach them responsibility, compassion, and the importance of providing consistent, loving care. Every puppy benefits from that hands-on attention and nurturing environment. We are committed to giving our puppies the very best start in life. From high-quality nutrition to proper veterinary care and age-appropriate vaccinations, we take every step seriously. Our puppies are ACA registered and come with their official paperwork. Most importantly, our puppies are raised with love from day one. They are not just part of a program—they are part of our family. It is incredibly important to us that each puppy goes to a home where they will be loved and cared for just as much as they are here.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Getting a puppy from Shera
Shera has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Shera partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 10 weeks old.

Parent health testing

Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
