Q. & A. with Melanie
Why did you start breeding?
I am passionate about this breed. Growing up I always had big dogs. I never knew such love and joy could come from such a small, smart, silky, lovable dog. I learned of the health issues Cavaliers can have, and how this is exacerbated by irresponsible and disreputable breeding practices. My mission is to better the breed by bringing healthy puppies, from health-tested parents, into loving homes.
What makes your program special?
Our puppies are raised by our family to fit perfectly with yours. They are familiar with household sounds and smells, going outside to explore and play, learning to potty train, socialized by children both big and small, adults, older dogs, and also a cat. When it's time to go home with their new families, they will be well adjusted for a smooth transition. We also send a puppy care package home with comfort items and necessities. Our passion is poured into every aspect of our breeding program. We love what we do and truly want the very best for our puppies and their forever families.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blenheim, ruby, black and white, black and tan, and tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Melanie was very communicative throughout the entire process. Once our puppy, Archie, was born she sent plenty of pictures and kept us posted on his progress. We’ve had Archie for nearly 3 months now and it is clear he was raised in a very loving environment from the start. He has the best temperament and loves all people and dogs. I credit Melanie with properly socializing him early on.

Our story with Melanie and Royalton Cavaliers started when a gorgeous Ruby Cavalier that we named Margo, joined our lives in September of 2021. She was a fiery redhead that stole our hearts immediately and took the neighborhood by storm as soon as she hit the Manhattan blocks.
It wasn't long before we realized that Margo was CRAZY for other dogs and was on top of the world when she could interact and play with them. The daily Central Park routine led to dog play dates and her energy grew as her size grew. She was such an amazing addition to our family and Melanie was such a great support for questions, ideas and generally staying in touch as we sent photos of Margo's adventures as she learned the world!
We would consistently discuss the idea of getting another pup from Melanie at Royalton Cavaliers, but we had never had TWO dogs and wondered how our Manhattan sized apartment would handle another furry family member.
Our lives were so much better with Margo in it, that we finally decided to have a handsome, Tri-Color boy that we named Gideon join the pack in February of 2024. He wasted no time in stealing our hearts (just like Margo) and immediately idolized his big sister, following her around by the tail and wanting to spend every waking minute playing with her and getting her attention.
Margo took to playing with him right away, but it took a few weeks for her to finally realize that this guy was not going home somewhere else and that he would want a lot of cuddles when they weren't wrestling or playing tug of war.
We thought we had seen all aspects of Margo's personality, but once Gideon arrived, so many new facets of her came to light. A playful, mischievous side came with more consistency. A protective, older sibling aspect that has no fear chasing a dog away if she feels that it is getting too rough with her brother and a gentle side of letting him get away with almost anything that she doesn't show to any other dog.
These two have become inseparable and our lives have become enriched beyond our imagination.
I could not recommend Royalton Cavaliers more highly. Melanie's pups are amazing and are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. Margo and Gideon have total crowd pleaser personalities and brighten the room, whenever they are in it. We could not be happier to have been lucky enough for them to join our lives and Melanie is there, every step of the way as we stay in touch and share in their development with her.
Thank you, Melanie! For Margo and Gideon and your unwavering support and guidance whenever we may need it!

It’s hard to even put into words on how much we have loved this entire process from start to finish. This was our families first time going through a breeder for a puppy. Melanie from Royalton Cavaliers helped make this whole experience so amazing. We have felt almost like part of her family as we got to know her and the dogs! We ended up getting Levi (Jasper) from her latest litter and he has been the best decision ever. We have 3 young boys and Levi has took to them in such a loving and gentle way and they are enjoying their experience so much of having a puppy for the first time. Levi has just fit right into our family perfectly and is so well behaved. We could not have asked for a better family dog and for our children’s childhood dog and companion. If we ever were to get another dog Melanie and Royalton Cavaliers will be our first call!

We had the best experience with Melanie at Royalton! Archie has completely changed our lives and we couldn't imagine having any other dog. He has been healthy from the beginning and has the best personality. He is loving, confident, well-socialized, and just the sweetest boy. We would absolutely get another Cavalier from Royalton in the future.

Royalton Cavaliers was wonderful to work with, from start to finish. They kept us informed of our pup (Molly's) health and development, sent pictures and videos as our pup developed, and then hand-delivered her to our home. After we received Molly, Royalton stayed in touch with us, offering support and advice and expressed genuine interest in knowing how the transition was going. We have stayed in touch with Royalton since Molly joined our family and we have had a very positive experience. And, of course, Molly is a joy in our home thanks, no doubt, to Royalton's excellent breeding and rearing practices.
