Q. & A. with Debbie

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started with my first collie that I bought from a pet store. We had cattle at that time and with getting older we decided we needed help. There were not many collies around at that time, so I decided I would become a breeder. I have done research on the breed and genetics. Since my first collie I have strived to improve my collie lines. I have also started to show my male.
  • What makes your program special?

I only have 4 dogs so my dogs are also my pets. They do not live in a kennel. They are indoor outdoor dogs. Being a small program allows me time, to spend with my dogs and puppies. I often bring my puppies with me and do a variety of things with them. My puppies are born in the house where they are imprinted from birth to touch, house noises as well as the other dogs in our family.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable merle and white, sable merle, blue merle white and tan, sable and white, white merle, sable, blue merle and white, black white and tan, blue merle, and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Couldn't have been much better; a truly great experience from beginning to end. My new Collie is a completely Certified Pedigree (AKC). He is so beautiful and talented I find it difficult to explain. He is growing and learning sooo fast. "Debbie of Rusty Spur Collies is someone you will want to meet." I thank her for what she does!

Eilah is doing fantastic. We love her completely. She is a quick learner, very loving, very smart. She adores her older dog sister Erda and especially loves our 14 month old grandaughter who we care for every day. They are growing up strong and happy and loving together.thank you!
