I'm Linda R., the breeder behind Scampezzy Lhasas located in Ft Wayne, IN. We breed for health, temperament, and quality over quantity. We plan to keep a pup and hope to find the rest perfect homes! We focus on breeding for longevity, as Lhasa Apsos are a very long-lived breed. We feed raw diets and buy dry food and supplements from a quality family-owned business. We wouldn't eat Cheerios and water 3 times a day and 365 days a year and get the vitamins and nutrients we need so the same for my Lhasas. For teething, we freeze organic canned pumpkin in ice cube trays which make great treats. We get bones from the meat market. We have absolutely loved this breed for thirty years.
Q. & A. with Linda
Why did you start breeding?
In 1984 purchased Lhasa Apso from petstore. Didn't know any better then. 1997 purchased my Cameo from Register Merit Breeder. Started showing Cameo. So always loved the Lhasa Apso breed. Amazing history behind them. The joy of keeping the Lhasa Apso breed going. Breed preservation.
What makes your program special?
I keep my number of dogs down. When the dogs start getting older they need good supplements and quality food. Don't care how well bred, old age is old age. My breed needs grooming frequently.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include golden, red gold, cream, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
