I'm Shannon V., the breeder behind Shannon's Cavalier King Charles Spaniels located in Taylor, MI. Hi y’all!
I am a reputable, local CKCS breeder with over 20+years breeding experience, the last 10 with CKCSs. I have lots of personal and business references. Including previous clients, business partners and veterinarian and groomers I’ve worked with! I start potty training all puppies in my program by 6 weeks old. Familiarizing them with the grass and outside noises young , makes the potty training transition a lot easier for my clients.
I also start crate training the puppies from birth. By doing so, it helps make the crate feel more like HOME, than something negative.
All puppies from my family, go home with:
2 sets of shots
2 dewormings,
flea treatment
heartworm prevention
Registration with pedigrees
Limited Health Guarantee
Puppy starter kit FILLED WITH GOODIES & TREATS to help puppy & new parents adjust easily.
Q. & A. with Shannon
Why did you start breeding?
I started by breeding pit bulls when I was younger. I bred those for about 5-10 years. Then I bred chihuahuas for a few years. I wanted a Cavalier King Charles for over 10 years! After I got my first one, Charlie, I began using him as a stud service. Eventually, I got females and more males and now I ONLY breed high quality CKCS puppies.
What makes your program special?
Family owned and operated. Meaning…. OUR DOGS ARE OUR FAMILY PETS!
Also, I am willing to work with my clients about puppy pickups/delivery. If you’re not local, but within 5-10 hours of Metro Detroit, I am willing to discuss meeting you halfway or less with your new puppy!
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blenheim, ruby, and tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
Matched dogs
These dogs are already reserved or have gone home.

All of your babies went to the doctors today for their last check up!!! GOOD NEWS!
Everyone is healthy, happy and ready to go home! (Next week, ofc) Their next booster shots will be due on or after October 2. They continuously get the same booster shots repeated every 2 weeks, until 16 weeks old. Then they will get their rabies shot and their last set of boosters. If you don’t plan on taking your puppy outside into the public and/or around any other unvaccinated dogs…..
You could consider holding shots until 16 weeks (11-20-25) and then go get the final boosters and the rabies and be DONE for the year! It depends on everyone’s budget and plans with their puppy.
Updated weights @ 7 weeks:
DJ-4.1 lbs
Dorothea-3.2 lbs
Timmy-4.1 lbs
Betty-3.4 lbs.
Marjorie-4.0 lbs
I look forward to seeing everyone starting next week! Please call me with any questions!

Hey y’all!!! One more thing I wanted to mention again is that all of the puppies are being purchased as PETS right now. (WITHOUT ANY BREEDING RIGHT) As long as you’re not interested in breeding, that’s all you’ll need. However, if you do decide to EVER breed your new baby…… you would have to reach back out and contact me and purchase the breeding rights. Right now, I only have them certified with LIMITED registration. Which means if you tried to send in a litter registration application (to register the puppies) it will not work! They will deny it until I contact them and take off the breeding restriction! Which happens all the time…. it’s very easy and it only takes a couple weeks! If you would like to purchase the breeding right with your baby, it is only $350 AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. Or, if you want to wait and do it later, it would range anywhere from $600-$1000. Of course it’s all personal preference. I just wanted you to know your options.

Parent dogs
Benny, dad
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
About Benny
Benny is a beautiful Ruby Cavalier. He is still young in age (1) and half of that at HEART! His favorite thing to do other than cuddle with mama, is play with his nieces and nephews……my new litter of pups. Thank goodness new JUST outgrew his “chewing” stage. That was a nightmare! Now, he spends most of his day running in and out NONSTOP! Without a doggy door, he is running us ragged! I also offer artificial insemination shipping for stud service.
Charlie, dad
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
About Charlie
Charlie Brown is the most gentlest & loving cavalier I’ve had! He is a therapy dog and works with our church ministry at the nursing home. Charlie has a sweet tooth like a little kid does! I mean it since he was a baby he has loved sweets! And that’s the only thing he sniffs out! You can cook steaks or bacon on the stove and he won’t wake up from his nap on the couch…… but if he smells cookies or cake, he has instantly nose in the air & finding it! It’s so funny. I’ve never seen a dog with an actual sweet tooth like that.
Good health testing
Patellar Luxation, Hip Dysplasia Finals (OFA, PennHIP, BVA, SV, FCI).
Lady, mom
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
About Lady
Ladybug is a mama’s girl! She’s as clingy to me as my shadow! She’s a registered service dog & therapy dog! She’s off leash trained, and stays on my heels wherever I go! She loves traveling and airports! But she hates to swim! Lady is off leash trained. She will walk on my heels and never leave my side. Even when she is coached by people, or another cat or dog comes by…… she’s very disciplined to stay on my heels!

We had the best experience using Good Dog and could not be happier with our breeder. We lost our last lab last year and were now ready for a new little one. We are recently retired and being older wanted a smaller breed. A friend of our has a Cavalier King Charlas Spaniel and we fell in love with the breed. We brought Lainey home two days ago and she is the perfect puppy for us. She is smart, lovable and playful. We will recommend Good Dog and Shannon’s Cavalier King Spaniels to our friends & family.

Shannon is a great breeder to buy from! She communicates well and sends a bunch of pictures and updates. She also sent me home with the proper paperwork and care package. She has beautiful cavaliers and an excellent price!

I can't begin to put into words how appreciative I am of Shannon and her business. Shannon is extremely knowledgeable of the King Charles breed. I reached out to Shannon through the Good Dog website. It only took about an hour for her to get back to me and she apologized for it taking that long. Shannon immediately made me feel comfortable about my decision to buy a puppy from her because of her level of professionalism, knowledge of the breed, WILLINGNESS to answer the several questions I thought of over the 5 weeks between putting down a deposit to adoption day. If your looking for a quality bred Cavalier and you want a great buying experience, Shannon's Cavalier King Charles is your breeder.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
