I'm Maryna W., the breeder behind Shooting Star Ranch located in Morgan, TX. As conscientious breeders, we are proud of the loving, smart, beautiful, and healthy puppies we’re able to provide for others. Our breeding program started with one small litter that turned into a fulfilling, lifelong passion! We believe there’s no greater joy than providing families with companions that share unconditional love no matter what. We live on a 5 acres by the lake Whitney, TX . We have lots of threes and a big pond where our dogs and puppies have fun and enjoy swimming. Also, we have chickens and gazillions of squirrels.

About Nelya
Nelya is truly the shining star of Shooting Star Ranch. A registered AKC member and fully health-tested through Optimal Selection Canine Genetic Breeding Analysis, she carries a strong foundation of proven working ability. Both of her parents come from respected working lines—her dam from dedicated cattle lines, and her sire whose dam worked cattle in Idaho and whose sire excelled in agility. Independent, intelligent, and driven, Nelya’s work ethic is unmistakable. Her high drive keeps her busy throughout the day, yet when evening comes she transforms into a loving, affectionate snuggle buddy who showers her family with gentle sweetness. Her bright, entertaining personality brings laughter to everyone around her. Nelya takes her daily chores seriously, faithfully herding the chickens and guiding them back to the coop from the pasture each evening. She loves stretching her legs in the pasture and cooling off with a swim in the pond—activities that perfectly match her energetic spirit. Her pups often reflect her natural talent. Several have shown strong herding instincts, while others demonstrate excellent potential for sport, performance, or active family companionship. Nelya passes on not only her working ability, but also her joyful character and affectionate nature.

About Windy
Windy is a stunning Sable Masked Saddleback Border Collie, carefully selected as an exceptional representative of her breed—so much so that welcoming her into our program was an easy decision. Playful, agile, and endlessly spirited, Windy thrives on activity. She loves Frisbee, is absolutely obsessed with balls, and shows a growing interest in herding. For now, her “livestock” consists of chickens, but she takes her job seriously and performs it with natural instinct. Her name couldn’t suit her better: Windy moves through life with a breezy, whirlwind energy, always eager to be everywhere at once and keep an eye on everything happening around her. With her drive, intelligence, and athleticism, Windy’s future puppies are expected to excel in both sports and livestock work. They will carry her wonderful temperament, high trainability, and strong working potential—making them exceptional partners in any home or performance setting.

We had a wonderful experience with Maryna at Shooting Star Ranch in Morgan, Texas. From start to finish, the process was thoughtful, professional, and caring. We adopted our beautiful merle Border Collie, Luna BLUU, who was born on November 14, 2025, and we couldn’t be happier. Maryna was incredibly generous with her time and even allowed our daughter, Sarah, to visit the puppies, which meant so much to our family. She kept us updated every step of the way, sending weekly photos and sharing updates so we always felt connected to Luna before bringing her home. Eric drove up to Fort Worth and we flew in to pick Luna up, and the experience was seamless. It’s clear Maryna puts her heart into raising healthy, well-socialized, and beautiful dogs. Luna is absolutely stunning and has the sweetest temperament. We highly recommend Maryna and Shooting Star Ranch to anyone looking for a Border Collie raised with care, transparency, and love.

Adding Candy to our family has been a wonderful experience since day one. After looking at many puppies and their breeders, I finally felt confident in Maryna knowledge and care for her puppies and their parents. Candy stayed a few extra weeks for a personal training and it was amazing to see how much she learned with Maryna. I am eternally grateful to Maryna and her husband for giving so much dedication, such great care and love to their dogs and allowing us to find such a wonderful puppy to become part of our pack. Thank you!!

I contacted Maryna a few weeks after losing our oldest border collie suddenly in November 2025. I knew we needed another pup to help us heal, so I contacted Maryna about a brand new litter she had. She responded to my inquiry within minutes and spoke to me on the phone, answering all my questions about the parents’ temperaments, OFA testing, genetic testing, etc. Maryna was not only professional, she was personable. She updated me a few times a week on Nova’s (formerly Aurora) development and activities on the ranch. Their exposure to various animals & enrichment toys, as well as experience using a doggy door and early potty training, results in confident puppies who are well adjusted and eager to learn. When it came time to pick her up, I opted to fly to DFW, rather than have her shipped. Eric was kind enough to bring Nova to the airport so I could make a quick turn around and head back to Las Vegas. My sweet girl didn’t even want to leave Eric’s arms which told me a lot about the care and love these puppies receive. 💞 I had a fantastic experience working with Maryna & Eric, & I expect we’ll stay in contact with them sharing the joys this little girl has brought to our lives (& her older sister Valli). I can’t recommend Shooting Star Ranch enough.

Our 12 week old border collie, Scout, is energetic, smart, confident and eager to learn. This speaks to the success of Maryna's breeding program. I was surprised that he was already house broken at 8 weeks when we got him. Maryna was super helpful, and always answered messages immediately. We are very pleased. Highest rating!
