Why did you start breeding?
We have raised and competed with animals from a young age and understand the importance of informed, responsible and educated breeding with quality over quantity. With our knowledge of training, health, conformation, and temperament evaluation we felt a responsibility to share this with others. We have worked for years to build a program around what we think makes the perfect pet.What makes your program special?
At Silver Sage Schnauzers all of our dogs are part of the family. We compete with them in obedience competitions and our children participate in 4-H, showing in both showmanship and obedience. All of our breeding dogs are AKC registered, receive in-depth temperament evaluation and appropriate health and genetic testing.Where do your breeding dogs live?

“All of our babies come home up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations and deworming, a 7-8 week detailed veterinary health exam, microchipped and quality socialization. We require a non-refundable deposit to hold a puppy that of course goes toward the total purchase price.”

Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Gary and family were absolutely wonderful! Due to my scheduled, Gary had to hang on to our boy "Viper" for an extra ten days before we could actually pick him up. Gary and family worked with Viper on potty training and crate training. We made a cross-country trip from Washington State to Florida, accident free!

Gary was wonderful to work with and our puppy Bennett gets “ooh”s and “awww”s everywhere we go. His training was off to a good start when we picked him up and he is a big, very sweet cuddler. We had to fly from Arizona to pick up Bennett and Gary was incredibly accommodating to make our flight schedule fit in his life - the “exchange” at the airport was smooth and from the first minutes we had Bennett it was obvious he had been well socialized and introduced to new things throughout his first 4 months with Gary. What an awesome experience and a wonderful new family member!!

Everything went great with Silver Sage. We are very happy with Rusty (aka Phil). He had his first Vet visit last week, and it went very well. The Vet said he was very healthy and doing well. He weighed over 6 LBS so you can tell he likes to eat. We are still traveling, so I don't have pictures yet, but I will get some when we get home in a couple of weeks. And yes, he has captured our hearts.
