I'm karen b., the breeder behind Silversands Yorkshire Terriers located in Pinellas Park, FL. I have lived in Florida all my life and my Mom started raising poodles when I was five years old and I started showing dogs when I was 9 years old. I am dedicated to yorkies and have been showing/breeding for over 38 years. I am very proud of my dogs, they are all treated like family! My puppies are raised in my home with TLC. You are welcome to come to my home and meet the parents and puppies. All of my dogs are bile acid tested (liver) and checked for luxating patella's (knees).

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Was born into it. I started showing dogs when I was 9 years old.

  • What makes your program special?

    I care about health, personality and looks. I do not mass produce!! I think I have some gorgeous yorkies!! I do health testing on all parents before they go into my breeding/showing program. I do allow people to come to my home to meet the puppies and parents in person. No very small children please

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies are blue and gold. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from karen

Puppy prices include a $1,000 non-refundable deposit and between $1,800 - $2,800 final payment, before taxes & fees.

"The price includes all current shots, health certificate, AKC papers and a contract which guarantee their health. All parents are health tested! Deposit is non-refundable unless the puppy does not pass the buyers veterinarian exam. Deposit is deducted from the price."

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

    Karen responded to my inquiry within an hour and offered us her telephone number if we had any additional questions. Within a couple hours we had all our questions answered and our "furbaby" reserved. You can tell Karen is passionate about raising the highest quality Yorkies. They are absolutely gorgeous, healthy, socialized and have no behavioral issues when you pick them up. We traveled 8 hours to get our little lady, and she was a dream all the way home. You would have thought she was a part of our family for years. Interactions with Karen do not stop at pick-up. She truly cares about her puppies getting settled in and is ALWAYS willing to help you and answer questions. When I'm in the market for another Yorkie I will definitely be calling Karen.
