Meet the breeder

I'm Cheryl M., the breeder behind Sonlight Ridge Aussies located in California, KY. We decided to start breeding to share our puppies and the love and joy that having a companion dog brings. Our puppies have the best of starts as we emphasize daily socialization, handling and play to bring you a loving, loyal and healthy 4-legged family member!

Q. & A. with Cheryl

  • Why did you start breeding?

My love for the Aussie breed began when I adopted Pascal, a tri-color Miniature Australian shepherd, who needed a home at the veterinary clinic where I work. I saw how intelligent, fun, loving and loyal the breed is and as a veterinarian with my level of experience had a passionate desire to share quality all-around great puppies with others.
  • What makes your program special?

As a vet, I meet so many puppies as patients who have been purchased from a puppy mill or similar type breeder with health issues or who lack socialization. At Sonlight Ridge Aussies, our puppies truly are raised in our home, handled daily by our children & grandchildren & have age appropriate socialization. We are passionate about matching socialized and healthy puppies with their fur-ever homes!
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Toy Australian Shepherd puppies include black tri, blue merle, red merle, and red tri. Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include blue merle, black tri, red tri, and red merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Our breeder Ms. Cheryl keep us informed every step of way. She met us halfway for the pick up of our new family members Banny and Vic. She provided us with food samples and the next SIMPARICA dose. Even after the pick up Ms. Cheryl corresponded with feeding and training recommendations. We highly recommend her if you’re interested in adding Mini Aussies to your family.

Great! Cheryl made my experience with my first pup go soooo easy. She communicated weekly or as needed to ensure I was ready to bring my pup home . I really appreciate the options for pick up and locations . Most of all my pup was sent home with most of her shots and she was trained enough at tha time for her age. Cheryl provided all her paperwork, her last few medications to go and step by step instructions on how to feed her , crate train her , register her , insure her with insurance EVERYTHING . My children love their Aussie. 💕

Hello All, I must say it took some time in researching for our precious angel whom our family now calls "Louie". I stumbled across Louie's sweet face, under Cheryl who runs Sonlight Ridge Aussies Farm. My heart knew right away he was the one. Those sky blue eyes. Merle color. Unique spots. Upon reaching out to Cheryl, her response was welcoming, speedy, and polite. Our conversation was filled with such grace over sweet Louie. I couldn't wait to meet her. Cheryl offers a fair meet and greet option, by meeting halfway or arriving on their beautiful farm. We chose to take the drive for ours. The views and excitement grew while headed to Sonlight Ridge. Once we arrived I saw little Louie beside Cheryl walking towards us. The moment had finally arrived. During our visit Cheryl supplied us with most insightful knowledge on these mini aussies. Her presence was so inviting to ask any questions. She even supplied us with a sample bag of his food, second round of dewormer, couple toys, and a blanket filled with his precious mommy's scent. Most importantly a folder containing his vet record of his first shot and microchip implant in case he ever lost his way home. This folder also showed us many other things we needed to know about Louie's feeding, registration of his microchip, etc. Cheryl absolutely delivered much more than we could have dreamed of. The way she cares for man's best friend told me all I needed to know so if you haven't already, check out Sonlight Ridge Aussies. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
