I'm Mikaila Z., the breeder behind Spirited Aussies located in Terryville, CT. We treat our dogs and puppies like family, and we give each pup all the loving care that we can to prepare them for their forever homes. We are proud of our program and look forward to helping you find your next furry family member! We do allow in person meet & greets at 6 weeks old and send weekly updates.

Why did you start breeding?
I had a few family members that were great mentors. I decided on the Australian Shepherd after fostering for a herding dog rescue. I choose a herding breed so I could have a working dog but decided on the aussies as they made great farm and sport dogs with their temperaments and drive to please.What makes your program special?
I keep my program small and our dogs live in our home as well as work on the farm. I genetic and temperament test all my breeding stock and pups to ensure the perfect pups and ideal homes. I offer support with training and boarding/ sitting when families go away. Joining waitlist prior to birth gives many advantages!What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include tiny and miniature sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include blue merle, black tri, red tri, and red merle. Miniature American Shepherd puppies include red tri-color, black tri, red merle, and blue merle. Australian Shepherd puppies include black & white, red & white, red merle, blue merle, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

She has been a wonderful, loving mama to her puppies and enjoys spending time with older, laid-back, and easygoing dogs. She also has a happy duck face that makes her especially endearing. She does well with other animals and children and has a gentle, easygoing personality. She is a low-drive Aussie with little to no herding instinct, making her the loyal and intelligent Aussie without the constant need for a job. She loves spending time outdoors, exploring, and enjoying the fresh air, but she is equally happy relaxing inside as a couch potato and cuddle buddy. Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

+8Mikaila was wonderful to work with. She is so smart and knowledgeable and has taken time with me to ease any fears or anxieties that have risen in me through this process. (All while working her full time nursing job, working on her house and planning her wedding!) She thoughtfully matched us with the right puppy to fit our family and our needs and she nailed it.
