Q. & A. with Jonathan & Karen

  • Why did you start breeding?

My love for the Cavalier King Charles breed started in 2002 at age 17 while watching a Animal Planet documentary. I didn't get the pleasure of adding one to my family until 2010. That sweet girl was our Daisy dog. A year later in 2011 we added our handsome boy Kingston. Daisy and Kingston had 3 beautiful litters. A total of 14 puppies, that I had the pleasure in hand raising and getting all the puppy snuggles. I was able to stay in contact with a bunch of our past puppies and loved receiving pictures and updates as the years went on. Daisy and Kingston lived underfoot with me and my 2 children at the time, retired here and both passed away in my arms years later. During their years of retirement, I focused on growing my family and took a break from breeding.
  • What makes your program special?

Our Cavaliers are family. They are AKC registered, and have OFA certifications for Hearts and Patella's. Full genetics done which include Cc/De/Esf and Dm. I bred cavaliers 10 years ago and took time off to grow my family. We are not a kennel, and only will have one to two litters a year. We are excited to find you your next life long best friend.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include blenheim and tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Karen was a good communicator and since we are first time puppy parents , it helped a lot. She was always available and sent us regularly adorable photos of our puppy throughout his time with his litter mates & mama. She and Jonathan have a well-run process and we couldn’t be happier with our puppy! He is playful, healthy, handles being apart from us well so far, and is such a perfect addition to our family! You will be in good hands with Stonecoal Cavaliers.

My experience with Jonathan and Karen was truly a breeze. I was looking for the perfect companion and I couldn’t be happier. I was provided with weekly update photos and they stayed active on TikTok as well so I could see more of my puppy! They answered any questions I had and made the entire process so easy and stress free! Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a reputable breeder.
