I'm Gail L., the breeder behind Streffield Cavaliers located in Oxford, MA. We breed our dogs keeping health, structure and temperament as a priority striving to produce Cavaliers that are active, intelligent and happy companions. We love sharing our daily lives and activities with them. They are always ready for anything and equally excited about running an agility course, taking long walks in the woods or just joining us by the fire.
Q. & A. with Gail
Why did you start breeding?
My real journey in the dog world began when I purchased my first Cavalier in order to train and compete in agility with my daughter and her Golden Retriever. The relationships with fellow breeders that I formed as a result of my search for a puppy led me to the world of breeding.
What makes your program special?
In addition to carefully selecting parents who have received breed appropriate health clearances, we raise our puppies in a rich environment focusing on experiences that will give them the right start to becoming stable, happy adults. We also do appropriately timed temperament testing, which together with our daily observations of the puppies, help us to match them with their families. With this information we can also provide a suggested training plan so that families can assist their puppy to become the best it can be. Matching puppies to the right homes is important to us, seeking homes where both puppies and families will thrive. I cherish the relationships I have with my puppy families and l love corresponding with them throughout their dogs’ lives.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blenheim, ruby, black and tan, and tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
