Meet the breeder

I'm Jodi H., the breeder behind Sunshine Mi-Ki's located in Fort Myers Beach, FL. At Sunshine Mi-Ki’s, we raise our puppies in our home alongside our family of four children, a larger dog, and a cat - so they’re fully socialized and transition seamlessly into their new lives with you. Mi-Kis are known for their remarkable intelligence and innate empathy - they sense and respond to human emotions in ways that make them exceptional companions, therapy dogs, and emotional support animals. To honor these qualities, we keep our dogs longer than most breeders. This extended time allows us to truly know each dog’s unique personality and temperament, helping us identify who may thrive as a beloved family companion, who shows natural aptitude for therapy work, and who might be a candidate for continued service training. This approach serves both our families seeking dogs past the puppy stage and our nonprofit mission through Sunshine Tiny Paws Foundation. 100% of proceeds from our placements go directly toward the breeding, care, and development of dogs we donate to veterans, special needs families, and others who can benefit most from a Mi-Ki’s extraordinary gift for connection. We’re looking for families and individuals who value quality over quick placement and will provide our dogs with the same level of love and care we’ve invested in them.

Q. & A. with Jodi

  • Why did you start breeding?

Our love for the Mi-Ki breed and their gentle, intelligent nature sparked our journey into breeding. A key moment came when our daughter, Willow, with her deep passion for animals, inspired us to raise a litter as a family. From there, our program grew into a commitment to raising healthy, well-socialized Mi-Kis. We are dedicated to helping others experience the same joy they have given us.
  • What makes your program special?

At Sunshine Mi-Kis, our pups get an exceptional start through rich social experiences. Working from home in real estate, they are exposed to clients, children, and other pets. Growing up with our larger rescue dog and cat, they are well-socialized and adaptable. This prepares them to be confident and easy to integrate into any home. With their friendly nature, our Mi-Kis make the perfect companions for any lifestyle.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable, white, silver, red, mahogany, fawn, cream, brown, blue, black, beige, and apricot. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
