I'm Susan G., the breeder behind The Queen of Shibas located in Tamarac, FL. We are dedicated in giving our dogs a healthy, calm and loving home. We give them enough outdoor time to enrich their motor skills and intelligence. Positive temperament is always rewarded.
Q. & A. with Susan
Why did you start breeding?
I purchased a full breed Miniature Aussie Shepard, that I lost her to cancer. Although she was beautiful and smart she had anxiety issues because she taken from her mother too soon. I wanted to become a breeder to give puppies the love, attention and adequate time with their mother to provide them with positive traits and characteristics for a healthier and happier life.
What makes your program special?
Before becoming a breeder myself I have watched other breeders and I learned what to do and what not to do. I believe all puppies, (or animals) need love, attention and discipline to have a good long and happy life and provide the best experience for their new families.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red, black and tan, and sesame. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

These dogs are already reserved or have gone home.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
The Queen of Shibas reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Shiba Inu.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Hyperuricosuria (HUU), DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
