Meet the breeder

I'm Christina W., the breeder behind Timber Sunrise Cockers located in Crossville, TN. We raise our babies in our home, with the expectation that they will be beloved companions, and continue their lives 'under foot'. We offer a one-year health guarantee, and send each pup home with a new puppy pack. This pack includes a sample of their current food, a well used toy that smells like their momma and litter mates, and all their medical records.

Q. & A. with Christina

  • Why did you start breeding?

My husband and I had both had cocker spaniels throughout our childhoods, and our love for this merry breed carried over into our marriage. We bred cockers for most of the 2000s, pausing when I finished nursing school. After covid did its worst, I hung up my stethoscope and turned my attention back where it should have stayed all along....these sweet, merry cocker spaniels.
  • What makes your program special?

Our cockers live in our house with us. They get time outside of course, but they don't have a separate shelter where they really live, as I have seen too often. I attend all mating and births, and am very hands on with all the pups. We raise them in the heart of the family, so they're used to kids and busy homes, and we can evaluate temperaments and learn individual personalities.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable and white, cream, black and white, buff and white, and buff. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Christina was wonderful and answered any questions I had. She always responded within a reasonable time frame and was very helpful. I’m so happy I was able to get Ollie from her!!

Bringing our baby Ruth home from Sunrise Cockers was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made! We had gotten our hopes up with other breeders on Good Dog who were unresponsive, but Christina responded to our inquiry right away. She told us to take our time asking whatever questions we had, sent health records for both parents, and never pressured for payment. She clearly pours so much love into her puppies and was happy to tell us all about Ruth’s developing personality, as well as Sunny and Eek, who are beloved members of her family. We put a deposit down for Ruth when she was 16 days old, and Christina sent us weekly photo/video updates, as well as promptly answering all of our questions, until we were able to fly her home at eight weeks old. Christina was kind enough to meet us in Nashville and gave us a folder with Ruth’s AKC registration information and vet records, as well as a bag of puppy food and a toy with her birth mom’s scent. Five weeks later, Ruth is the absolute light of our lives! She is super smart and sweet, snuggly, more outgoing than both of us put together, and very sassy and dramatic. She is doing amazingly well with potty training and crate training, and is entering her teething phase. Everything she does is the cutest thing we’ve ever seen and we can’t imagine our lives without her. We will always be grateful for Christina, Chris, Sunny and Eek!

Christina could not have made this process any better! She was incredibly responsive and thorough in answering all of my questions—no matter how many I had. Her flexibility with our pick-up date (we had a family vacation planned since February) was something we truly appreciated. Christina kept us updated with photos and maintained consistent communication right up to the adoption day. Collins is settling in perfectly with our family, and we feel so lucky to have found Christina! I would absolutely adopt from her again and will absolutely recommend her to everyone I know!
