I'm Susan M., the breeder behind Toledo Bend Cavaliers located in Hemphill, TX. Our pups aren't pets, they're family members! Born and raised in the home, all dogs are microchipped, vaccinated and both parents have been fully DNA tested to ensure the best health.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Growing up, my mom bred Collies and Pomeranians, but the first pups I ever bred were my two Cocker Spaniels, Sam and Lola in 2006. Being a stay at home mom allowed me to give them the full attention and care they required. I took a break after rejoining the workforce and did not start breeding again until I retired from the state in 2024.

  • What makes your program special?

    Our breeding program is special because of the extreme level of care we have for our babies. Before beginning the breeding process, we made sure the parents, Percy and Willeaux, were in the best possible shape and had several tests ran to ensure perfect health for them and their future pups. We do not breed for profit, but to share the love and companionship these pups have to offer.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies are blenheim. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Susan

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $3,500 - $4,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

  • Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
