Breeder-Reported Testing

Good level

Triple Creek Kennel reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Boykin Spaniels.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Dentition

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC)

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

It was a wonderful experience working with Michelle! She was always very communicative and supportive when it came to finding our pup. When we took him home to our vet the doc said he was in amazing shape and was indeed up to date with all his health care. The pick up process was very smooth and easy. Our pup is the sweetest dog and so very smart. I couldn’t recommend Michelle enough.

Michelle was great! She is a responsible and ethical breeder. I truly believe in what Michelle is doing, I have a chocolate lab from the RiverxCutter litter. I’m very happy with my puppies temperament. He does well around other animals and in public. He doesn’t have any signs of hip dysplasia. His vet is very impressed with his check ups. He came home essentially potty and crate trained. If you are looking for a working dog or even a “happy to be there pet”, Michelle’s dogs are the way to go. My puppy is eager to please, happy to be included, and has a natural drive for birds. If I had the chance I would choose Triple Creek Kennel over and over again.

This was our first puppy from a breeder rather than a shelter. Michelle made our choice wonderfully easy. She helped us find exactly the right puppy for our family, the most energetic one. And she cheerfully accommodated our last minute request to pick up our puppy one week early, despite having to interrupt a pre-Christmas family dinner. She gave us lots of good instructions to keep our puppy happy and healthy. We are so happy with the whole experience!

Michelle is the best breeder! She’s very knowledgeable, responsive and helpful. I worked with her to get my parents a puppy last year and had such good experience that I am going to work with her again this year to get myself one of her pups. She’s kept me in touch at each part of the process and I appreciate her! I am so excited for another dog from her!

Everything from start to finish went very well. Michelle shared information about the parents, disposition of the puppy, feeding and sleep habits. All we needed to know. She was also extremely accommodating for when we could come pick up our new pup. She's everything we hoped for. She has a very loving, super sweet personality, but there's some fun devil in her too. She can be very spunky in a wonderful, make you laugh way. She already bonded with one of our cats, and the other (who is more skittish) has been coming around too. Within a week, we were able to complete her potty training, and she even lets herself out the doggy door to take care of business. We couldn't be happier! Thank you Michelle and Good Dog for making this happen.
