Meet the breeder

I'm Kara V., the breeder behind Valera Cavaliers located in Houston, TX. I fell in love with this breed about 10 years ago and have learned a lot about this breed since then. I have a passion for cavaliers and raise them in my home as a part of our family. They are all very well socialized with my children and are very loved by my family. All of my adults are OFA heart certified, CERF eye certified, and patella certified yearly. They have also been tested for curly coat, dry eye, and episodic falling syndromes. I am also a board member of the Cavalier Club of Greater Houston.

Q. & A. with Kara

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have always known I wanted to do something with dogs since I was little and I went to my first dog show at age 20 and knew right then that is what I wanted to do. I have been breeding and showing now for about 11 years. I have learned a lot over the years and it has made me a better breeder. I enjoy every aspect of breeding and care very much about where my puppies go.
  • What makes your program special?

I am a board member of our local Houston Cavalier club and stay very active with them as well as showing. I have many ribbons and titles that I am proud of. The most important thing to me with Cavaliers is their health. I take health testing very seriously, I test my adults every year by specialists. All of my dogs also live in our home as part of our family and I offer a 2 year health guarantee.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are blenheim. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
