Q. & A. with Shana

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started breeding Goldens while I was a vet tech. I kept seeing all these Goldens come in with significant heath problems. So I started my search, for longevity in the lines and as much health testing in the parents I could find. With the goal to increase the health and longevity of Goldens. My jacks we strive for good temperament, good energy with family friendly temperaments.
  • What makes your program special?

I do extensive health and DNA testing on all my Goldens. We also do testing on my jack russells. We live on a small hobby ranch where my Goldens have the opportunity to experience different types of sounds, animals, ect. I want to improve the health of the golden retriever.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include dark golden, golden, and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Shana was absolutely wonderful. She walked me through everything I needed to know about owning a puppy, gave me tips and advice, and was overall incredibly knowledgeable. When we arrived to pick up our puppy, she showed us the parents of our puppy and explained how they were raised, what they eat, and how they exercise. You can obviously tell they are very well taken care of since birth and are healthy. I’m so thrilled I was able to find Shana and our new puppy through this site, and couldn’t have imagined a better way to meet and find our newest family member!

Shana was fantastic in helping me find my pup! I got my puppy about 8 months ago and she had been perfect from the start. The process was so easy and Shana made it stress free and enjoyable with picture updates and phone calls to answer every question I had! Shana picked my puppy based on my lifestyle matched with my girl’s energy and temperament and SHE IS PERFECT! She was so easy to train and is very calm while at home (thank god because I am in a one bedroom apartment). She also does so well on our daily walks and picked up leash training so well. She learned most commands, including ringing her potty bells on the door, in one day. I am constantly complemented on how sweet she is and how she is one of the most beautiful goldens. I recommend Shana and VS golden fields to everyone!! Couldn’t be happier with my experience.
