I'm Brianna S., the breeder behind West Coast Shibas located in Portland, OR. My mission is to help people find their new addition to the family and support them with every step to build an everlasting relationship of love and care between the Shiba Inu and the family. My puppies are bred with excellent health and sound temperament to provide you with a wonderful pet.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    My mother started breeding shibas when I was about 4 years old. I have watched and learned how to breed and train shibas from a very young age. As I got older, I realized that I wanted to utilize what I knew to help other people find their new addition to their family. I leveled up my education, knowledge, and experience to be a more informed and responsible breeder to open a kennel of my own.

  • What makes your program special?

    I am a resource for the entire life of your puppy in learning more about the breed, finding your puppy, learning your specific puppy's personal needs, preparing for your puppy's arrival, various techniques to handle behaviors and training puppy, and to provide an answer to any other questions or give help for you to become the confident owner to raise a happy, healthy, and obedient shiba inu.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include red and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Brianna

Brianna has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Brianna partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Price

Puppy prices include a $600 non-refundable deposit and between $1,600 - $2,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes a congenital health guarantee, limited AKC registration, deworming, 1st round of vaccinations, puppy starter kit, and lifetime access to me as a resource for training your puppy. Contract & health guarantee

Brianna may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.     I'm a new puppy-owner (Had older dogs previously), never owned a shiba but have always wanted one. Upon meeting the pup, Brianna was super informative and responsive with messages, along with providing great insight on how she cares for her pups, and how to transition one into my home. When I drove down to meet the puppy (Aiko) that I was interested in, I was prepared to take a few days to think about it. But the vibe was very on point, I didn't feel pressured at all. It felt right. So I put down a deposit right away. I've gotten detailed weekly updates and photos on how Aiko was doing until she came home. Brianna makes sure to potty train her puppies, and it shows! Aiko refuses to go potty anywhere but her designated area now, and sleeps through the night! (I think I got lucky there <3 with Aiko and her breeder!) Highly Highly recommend going with Brianna if you're on the market - even if it's just to go play with some adorable puppies for a short bit~ Definitely made my day just seeing them the first time.     When we reached out to West Coast Shiba’s, Brianna responded very quickly and what stood out to us was how friendly she is. Our first interaction with her also made it clear that she deeply cares about the breed and the puppies as individuals. She treated them like family and was making sure that the puppies go to a good home and not as products to be sold. Brianna expressed the effort she put into training the puppies with socializing, exposure, clicker and potty training. She was doing everything she could to make sure her puppies were well rounded and adjusted when they go to their new home. When Brianna agreed to give us Teagan (Previously Rengar), she offered various delivery options including her personally handing Tegan off to us. Once Teagan was reserved, she gave us weekly puppy updates, including pictures, training, and personality traits. On the day we received Teagan, Brianna provided us with a few weeks of puppy food to help with food transition as well as the name of the food it was. She also gave us toys and a baby blanket that was shared with his littermates to help him adjust to his new home. Once we brought Teagan home, we quickly learned what a confident, sweet, curious and playful puppy he was. He was nearly fully potty trained, positively reacted to new people and didn’t over react to various sounds. He quickly adjusted to his new home and has been a loving and loved on new member in our family.

    Brianna is such a fabulous breeder to work with! She has a lot of knowledge about Shibas and is very willing to answer questions and continue giving support during and after adopting your new puppy! She gives honest, thoughtful answers and does a lot of hands on training prior to the puppies coming home. She worked with the puppies on desensitization (trimming nails, giving baths, brushing fur and teeth ect) including to noise which had been a concern since we'd gotten our puppy so close to the 4th of July. We continued that training and when the fireworks began he had zero reaction. She also works on kennel and alone time training. Kanji isn't fond of being alone but only a couple days after coming home he quickly settled into a routine and has since been found voluntarily lounging in his kennel when he wants some alone time. 10/10 If you're looking for a shiba puppy, I can't recommend working with Brianna enough!
