I'm the breeder behind Whirlwind Flat-Coated Retrievers located in Stillwater, MN. We value responsible breeding practices and want to do our part to ensure the Flat-Coated Retriever will continue to thrive. We built our program with care and intention in every step. We are passionate about the health and well-being of this breed, and it is our goal to provide each dog that comes from our program with a solid foundation of good health, neurological development, and loving care. I usually have only one breeding female at a time, so I only have litters occasionally.
Q. & A. with Jennifer
Why did you start breeding?
I got my first show dog, Windy (CH Rav'n Whirlwind of Shannara) in 1998, and worked closely with her breeder to choose the perfect pedigrees for mates for Windy and, ultimately, her daughters.
What makes your program special?
My litters are raised in my home and are started with Early Neurologic Stimulation at just a few days old to help their development into the best they can be. I focus on health, physical correctness, and solid temperaments for many and varied dog activities.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Ghost is an awesome puppy. Well socialized and brave. We have had quite a week with him and he has been a trooper through all of the new situations.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
