I'm Veronica S., the breeder behind Windgate Cavaliers located in Sioux Falls, SD. Windgate Cavaliers is located in rural South Dakota near the Minnesota border. We raise healthy Cavaliers that are stunningly beautiful and affectionaye, with correct chunky heads, melting chocolate eyes, silky coats and playful delightful movement and temperaments. At times Cavaliers are playful clowns trying to delight you or emotional sponges that provide quiet love and support when you need it most. As a buyer make sure to research the breed and breeder carefully before you purchase your future friend and companion. A reputable breeder is happy to talk about their program, eager to share information about health testing, nutrition, vet checks, training, and will welcome a visit on site to meet the parents. Reputable breeders work diligently to screen their sires and dams so that the puppies born are free of serious health conditions. These conditions include heart, eye and genetic disorders that may affect Cavaliers. A reputable breeder will often show their sires and dams in AKC events, in order to gain objective input from judges, handlers and other breeders. Windgate has a history of breeding and finishing AKC Champions that are healthy, long lived and loving companions. Our Cavaliers will provide years of pleasure and companionship for your family.
Good questions to ask as you embark on a search for a Cavalier is what health testing is performed on the parents, can you meet the parents and grandparents of the puppy, and wether the breeder shows their dogs in AKC events. Careful research will reward you with the most wonderful dog you will ever have, a friend, playmate, travel companion, sleeping buddy, and the lapdog of your dreams. Please contact us to chat about our upcoming planned litters and available puppies.
Q. & A. with Veronica
Why did you start breeding?
When we first started out looking for our first pet Cavalier, we found it very difficult to find quality Cavaliers that were healthy, and had correct conformation. Jess and I are both healthcare professionals and we decided to throw our hats in the ring which we did literally. We breed and show our Cavaliers and have many finished champions that are now the sires and dams of our puppies.
What makes your program special?
Our focus on conformation, proper color markings and above all health and temperament. We plan every breeding carefully, sometimes years in advance, with attention to health and nutrition and prevention of genetic traits and diseases. We also show our dogs in the show ring, at national AKC events, We breed for the future of this precious breed.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blenheim, ruby, tri-color, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
