Winterglen Labradors & Swedish Vallhunds

Gretchen Eloise K.

Breeder of Labrador Retrievers and Swedish Vallhunds

Meet the breeder

I'm Gretchen Eloise K., the breeder behind Winterglen Labradors & Swedish Vallhunds located in Alaska. Our breeding philosophy is simple; we believe in breeding quality over quantity, with an emphasis on temperament, health, brains, and type. Our goal is to produce Labradors that can go from the foot of the bed, to the showing ring, to the hunting blind all in a day's work. Our Vallhunds are versatile, smart, and sturdy dogs that retain the traits that made them spirited companions to the Vikings.

Q. & A. with Gretchen Eloise

  • Why did you start breeding?

I was born and raised with Labradors, starting with my Dad’s field bred Labradors in the late ‘70s and the tradition continued throughout my childhood. My first dog, Cooper, was my main reason for continuing in the world of dogs, and especially, with the Labrador breed.
  • What makes your program special?

I have spent my whole life with this breed and am devoted to doing what I can to better both of my breeds. I love seeing the joy that my dogs bring others, no matter what their "job."
