I'm Melissa L., the breeder behind Wynter Thyme Manor Australian shepherds located in Bethany, CT. We are proud breeders of Australian Shepherds ( aussies) in southern Conn. Everyone of our dogs has been genetically tested for the COMPLETE Australian shepherd panel recommended by paw print genetics. Our dogs are valued members of our family, and accompany us to horse shows, on family trips, and errands around town. Our puppies are raised in a bustling home and farm environment where from the time they are born are exposed to new people, children, other dogs, and a menagerie of farm animals. We take great pride in breeding high quality, Healthy, beautiful, as well as highly socialized, intelligent companions for your family.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I started as a hobby breeder 30 years ago. Although my family bred & trained horses, dogs were always apart of our lives. Breeding dogs added to the excitement & joy that raising horses and various farm animals have given me my entire life. All my dogs are born and raised in my canine nursery with me by their sides from start to finish. Each puppy's birth is timed & the foster name is recorded.

  • What makes your program special?

    Love, knowledge, & passion for animals makes my job the best ever! There is not a day that goes by that I am not thankful for. I have learned valuable life lessons working with animals. They have so much to offer and give. Setting animals up for success, making sure they receive the appropriate love, care, and training to prepare them for their new families and life that lies ahead, is priceless.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include black & white, red merle, blue merle, red, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

    Melissa was great with updates and photos on the puppy’s progress . I have had him for a week now and he is the most wonderful puppy . At 10 weeks almost house broken and so happy and playful but calm when it’s bedtime , no crying at all from the word go . I may be biased but he is the handsomest boy !! I would highly recommend Melissa if you love Aussies and are looking for a puppy

    I am so happy that I adopted an adorable Australian Shepherd from Melissa. The dog is so gentle and brings so much joy to our home. Our new puppy quickly bonded with our two year old border collie and they are playing games together. A favorite is tug of war and they chase each other to grab the end of the toy. It's so cute to watch! Melissa was very knowledgeable with the breed and with DNA testing. It was so obvious how much she loves her profession and cares so much for the dogs she breeds. My new puppy is only 8 weeks old and has the smarts enough to know he should pee and poop outside on the grass. A first! Such a smart dog! Yes, he has a few mistakes since he's still too young to have complete bladder control. I am so thankful I found a wonderful breeder like Melissa. She's definitely a keeper!
