I'm Michelle, the breeder behind Yamadori Shiba Inu located in Hanford, CA. I’m a small-scale breeder of Shiba Inu. My priorities when breeding are health, temperament, and to abide by the breed standard. I am a member of Nippo and our regional AKC breed club. I am currently the ONLY responsible breeding program for this breed in Central Valley California.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    It is such an honor to preserve the line of these incredible dogs all the while creating companionship for others. I strive for quality and excellence with everything that I do. Holding myself to high standards is paramount to the well-being of my dogs and to the integrity of my program. It has been such a great experience!
  • What makes your program special?

    Shiba Inu are my passion, and I am devoted to doing whatever I can to preserve, protect, and improve this incredible breed. I treasure each puppy in my program and give them all the attention and care that I possibly can. I work hard so my puppies can leave my home with confidence, ready to take on the world with their new family. I am passionate about what I do, and I can't wait to help you welcome home your new companion!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include red, black and tan, and sesame. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Puppy prices include a $1,000 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

  • Hip Dysplasia , Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Dentition

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • GM1 Gangliosidosis (GLB1), Shiba Inu Type

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
