I'm Patricia M., the breeder behind Bally Bull Terriers located in Longmeadow, MA. Our puppies are excellent representations of their breed, They are shown in conformation rings and enjoy fun dog sports like Trick Dog. All of our breeding dogs hold basic titles, Champions, Canine Good Citizens and Trick Dog. We are proud to offer our high-quality, well rounded puppies to loving homes. Because our puppies are pets more than anything else, we’ve created a small, responsible and conscienceous planned breeding program. Placing healthy dogs in healthy homes is our goal.
"Let's not measure a breeders success by the amount of winning their dogs do in the ring, but by the number of dogs that stay with the family that purchased them as a pup and then die in the arms of that same family 14 years later. In that case we have three winners, the breeder, the family and most importantly, the dog" Unknown.
Q. & A. with Patricia
Why did you start breeding?
I had only seen bull terriers in Bud Light commercials in the 80's. I saw my first live bull terrier walking his owner in Atlanta, GA. The next bull terrier I saw was 15 years later. I was driving with my boyfriend and he said why don't you get a Bull Terrier. We talked briefly about it and parked the car. We started to walk towards the restaurant we were going to and there was a couple with a white Bull Terrier named Annie. We started talking to them about Annie. After talking for a few minutes we realize they know my brother and I'm getting the number to the breeder in CT. It was meant to be. He became my heart dog and I couldn't image my world without Bull Terriers in it. I never planned to be a dog breeder it just evolved from purchasing my pet Bull Terrier, to showing my "pet" Bull Terrier, to flying to Europe and buying my first female (aka bitch) to show & possibly breed.
What makes your program special?
I'm a hobby/preservation breeder. I breed dogs for myself and I breed infrequently because my bitches are my pets. Because I'm breeding for me I do more health testing than is required & my standards are higher than what is recommended. I do this because I don't what my puppies or their owners to suffer. Bull terriers will make you suffer when they're healthy never mind if they are not. My first Bull Terrier Sirius died at 5 1/2 years old from lymphoma, I was heartbroken and he suffered. It wasn't anyones fault but I would like to prevent anyone else from that experience if I can.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
