Q. & A. with Amanda
Why did you start breeding?
It all started as a childhood dream. I mean who doesn't love puppies! I did research for nearly 10 years before finally choosing a breed! After I chose GSP I bought my very own first purebred and started the process. It has its challenges, its not just buy a puppy and have babies, its so much more in depth and detailed and I love every minute of it.
What makes your program special?
I care more about the dogs then the money. In fact I personally don't make much of a profit at all. Most of the earning go back into the program to make improvements best suited for the dogs! Mama and babies are my number one priority. I have what they call a "closed kennel" it basically means visitors by appointment only. I will send new owners pics and videos of the babies daily.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies include blenheim, ruby, tri-color, and black and tan. German Shorthaired Pointer puppies include white and liver, liver roan, liver and white, black roan, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
Boonies Farms reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shorthaired Pointers.
Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered), Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
