Meet the breeder

I'm JB M., the breeder behind BTR Australian Cattle Dogs located in Kalispell, MT. We are located in the beautiful mountains of MONTANA. We are dedicated to offering quality puppies to owners who understand the value of having a good quality pedigreed dog from tested parents. Our dogs arent cheap, but we Hope prospective buyers will appreciate our dedication and passion. We have shorter stocky Heelers, and offer a few registrations. We ask that all buyers do their homework. This breed isn’t for everyone as they tend to want a job to do, and need energy outlets. Yes MOST of our dogs work livestock and we guarantee their livestock working ability and drive as per our guarantee. We have smaller sizes as well as bigger, while maintaining the true “type” that makes a Heeler a Heeler. And most importantly we raise a healthy, conformationally sound and functional dog.

Q. & A. with JB

  • Why did you start breeding?

I’ve grown up in the cowboy culture lifestyle and began owning Cattle dogs in the 90s in Texas. It blossomed into a passion for breeding quality registered dogs. We wanted to offer a Heeler for “everyone” so we do have show quality AKC dogs as well as ASDR and NAPR ranch bred dogs for working/family only homes. I prefer Heelers with an “off switch” which makes them pretty versatile.
  • What makes your program special?

My attention to the smallest detail in ensuring the perfect match between a buyer and a puppy. I am a little “to the point” or blunt, I will turn down a sale that does not feel right. I feel like the right buyers will appreciate this straight forwardness. I do admit my mistakes and learn from them to better my program. A good breeder is ALWAYS learning. We do require that ANY and all dogs ever needing re-home, be returned to us, no exceptions. None of our dogs are sold with breeding rights by default but we allow breeding rights case by case. We health test our breeding dogs. I strive for thorough communication with clients, you can find ways to contact me directly on my website. Please note we live in a rural area and sometimes cannot return calls immediately.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are blue. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
