I'm Terri M., the breeder behind Caliche Australian Cattle Dogs located in Miami County, OH. I have been training and competing dogs for over 40 years. Focusing mainly in Obedience and IGP. I have recently begun training my cattle dogs in herding. I also show them in the conformation ring. I have worked many years in veterinary hospitals. I am a professional groomer and trainer. I have raised dogs for the Seeing Eye, Morristown, Nj. I have trained many dogs to become certified service dogs.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I am a preservationist breeder striving to maintain and improve upon the unique qualities that this breed has to offer. It is such an honor to preserve the line of these incredible dogs all the while creating companionship for others!
  • What makes your program special?

    My dogs are an integral part of my family and daily life. This creates the ideal environment for puppies. From birth, they grow in a secure, loving environment where they know that they matter to their family -- that they have a purpose.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies are blue. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Spine (OFA, FCI), Shoulder Osteochondrosis, Brucellosis, Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Cystinuria Type II-A, Australian Cattle Dog Type, Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1), PRA, Rod-Cone Dysplasia 4 (rcd4), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Primary Lens Luxation (PLL)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
