I'm Heath S., the breeder behind CapeWest R&T located in Weatherford, TX. We are dog trainers who became breeders to share our love of British Labs with others. Our goal is to help families have obedient, well-mannered pets. We believe this starts with breeding healthy dogs that naturally display these qualities. We specialize in gun dogs for the average hunter.

Why did you start breeding?
I wanted to produce high-quality dogs that would be both exceptional in the field and well-mannered at home. After training dogs for the general public, I noticed a need for pups with strong bloodlines & genetic qualities that set them up for success from day one. I’ve seen firsthand how the right breeding makes a difference in a dog’s temperament, health, and trainability.What makes your program special?
Our breeding program stands out by selecting only high-quality European studs, ensuring strong genetics. Our puppies grow up in-house, exposed to everyday sounds for smoother transitions into family life. We introduce whistle training once eating solid food & use Alpha pellet litter boxes to encourage them to potty on grass, helping build the foundation for well-behaved, adaptable puppies.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Heath partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.
“Puppies are matched on Pickup date at 8 week old based the order in which deposits are received & your picking order preference. On pick up day we will be able to share our observations of the different puppies with you which allows for life time matching. ”

Litter update on 26 Apr •…As of April 26, 2026 we have one female spot remaining in our 2026 litter. On puppy pick up day, folks come pick out their puppy based on the order of deposits received. We have the final female spot remaining the exact puppy will be determined on May 17th the day they go home. This is to encourage people to focus the breeding quality in the Dam & Sir know there is no bad options. We are so exited for our 2026 owners we got to meet many of this weekend. It’s hard to say good bye to these little ones but honestly we have the best customers!!!

Litter update on 26 Apr •…CapeWest Pups start training early! We have an alfalfa litter box in the Welping to box to encourage going potty on something that smells like grass. By the time they go home they will be going potty in the box 90% of the time.

Litter update on 18 Apr •…First taste of real food & whistle training starts today! All our pups are whistle train from 4 weeks old when it’s feeding time. This training has proven to last. When we care for or train our pups at older ages they always come back to the whistle call! Our clients love this!

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

Cape West R&T (Heath and Caitlin) were a pleasure to work with. Heath always responded promptly to any questions I had and gave frequent updates and photos so I could watch all the little ones grow. Caitlin met me on time at the airport so I had plenty of time to get back to catch our first flight with Finn home to Denver. Finn is doing well and is a happy and healthy, intelligent young pup!! Finn adjusted well to being away from his littermates and you can see the care that Heath and Caitlin put into these little guys. I would highly recommend Cape West R&T!
