I'm Collette R., the breeder behind Collette's Goldens located in Lucas, KS. Our dogs are bred after we check heart, eyes, thyroid, elbows and hips at 2 years old. Once they have good results only then we will start the breeding process. When the pups go through ENS-early neurological stimulation from day 3 to day 13. The pups are wormed and have had distemper and parvo.
Q. & A. with Collette
Why did you start breeding?
Mom & Dad had a dark golden named Katie. They believed she would live longer if she had at least 1 litter. She had 1 litter of 2 pups. I got one, Red. I learned & took it very seriously.
She was raised in Westminster, CO.
We know how important it is that our breeding dogs’ health is as good as it can be to ensure the puppies’ health is similarly sound.
All pups are wormed & given distemper& parvo
What makes your program special?
We take the health of our Goldens very seriously.
We check our two-year-old females and two-year-old males' hips, elbows, thyroid, eyes and heart through the OFA. We do a program called ENS (early neurological stimulation) from day 3 to day 16 after birth.
Our puppies are socialize with local children and my niecies and nephews go to visit and play with the pups old day.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include dark golden and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
