I'm Rebecca D., the breeder behind Coram Deo Retrievers located in Greater Houston Area, TX. We love American Labrador Retrievers and believe they are the perfect dog for sports, companionship, and service. Our dogs have an excellent pedigree for temperament, health, and conformation. We put in a huge effort of testing, education and science to ensure continued excellence. We are active in our local Hunting Retrieving club and do hunt test our dogs.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Both my husband and I love Labradors and do strive to improve the breed by careful breeding with close attention to genetics. As a nurse, I noticed in humans that genetics plays a huge part in what lays ahead for each person with health challenges. We strive to find partners that compliment each other for improving our line.

  • What makes your program special?

    Love of just what Labradors and other Retrievers can do for work, play and love. Puppies often develop from what you put into them and we keep them in a family environment. Each puppy is stimulated both mentally and physically every day learning trust of humans. We do temperament test our puppies and offer picks at age 6 to 7 weeks.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Rebecca

Rebecca has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Rebecca partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

“We take care with placing puppies according the the needs of the individual or family. We do test temperament for companion vs sporting. If a family has special needs and their own trainer they trainer is more than welcome to assess which puppy would qualify. Some litters develop faster than others while some need to be assessed close to the 7th week.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,500 - $3,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Ask Breeder. Price determined by sex, color, and breeding pair. Our prices are going to increase by 150.00 USD on September 10th. $100 dollar deposit for waitlist with the remainder of a $500.00 non-refundable deposit due when puppies are delivered. If except defaults by seller, or discovers that the buyer is unsuitable for ownership the deposit will be refunded.”

Contract & health guarantee

Rebecca may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Parent health testing

Coram Deo Retrievers reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Labrador Retrievers.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Brucellosis

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Full Embark Panel, PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Hereditary Nasal Parakeratosis (HNPK), Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), D Locus (Dilute) DNA test

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    I lost my partner after 13 1/2 years last Sunday. As soon as I realized I could not survive without another black Lab I began my web search. After hours and hours of searching all I can say is God works in mysterious ways and somehow I was he lead me to Rebecca. I needed a Lab and I needed it fast. Rebecca went above and beyond not only to get me the dog I needed but to get him 1,550 miles to me. When he got here he was everything and more than I expected.
