Meet the breeder

I'm Jo S., the breeder behind Dark Horse Boxers located in Briggs, TX. Our mission is to provide Boxers for show, pet, working, and sport purposes. All of our dogs are AKC and UKC registered, health tested and bred for temperament and betterment of the breed. We are a small kennel, and only have a few litters per year.

Q. & A. with Jo

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started breeding because I wanted to continue the legacy of my foundation female. Initially, I bred for myself—to preserve and improve the qualities I loved. After seeing success in both sport and show with my first litters, I was hooked. Since then, I’ve been dedicated to refining and improving my lines with each generation.

Jo was completely transparent, knowledgeable and flexible. We had a trip to Europe planned with our dog sitter already set up for our other pup. We didn’t want to drop a brand new puppy on her. Jo was willing to hold abs continue to train Stevie until we got back. She even went so far as to meet us. Stevie has the best personality and is the perfect addition to our couch potato family. Jo nailed it on demeanor. Best experience. Thank you.

Jo, breeder of beautiful, healthy Boxers at TAC Team Kennels was extremely helpful. I've never acquired a Boxer from a on-the-record breeder. I knew nothing about the process. Jo made it easy, answered all my million questions and responded in a timely manner. Telling her how I might have fun with this pup, she helped match me with this wonderful Boxer, Spirit. She sent me all the background health records on the mom and dad and kept me informed on vet exams on the litter. She prepared a wonderful 'take home' bag that helped to make our 10 hour drive back home much easier. The litter was AKC registered, but Jo helped me get all the documents and Spirit's registration in my name. She is working with me added to get the microchip when I ran into a issue. I just have to say, if you are looking for a happy, healthy Boxer pups, you should consider TAC Team Kennels...efficient, professional, caring, beautiful and healthy Boxers!
