Meet the breeder

I'm Dana R., the breeder behind DCR Working ACDs & Kelpies located in Cherry Valley, CA. Our program is focused on producing OFA Health Tested Australian Cattle Dogs bred for Service (Disabilities), Work (Livestock), Sport (All), Show (Conformation) and personal companion.

Q. & A. with Dana

  • Why did you start breeding?

In the early 1980s, my mother bought a purebred English Cocker Spaniel. I was interested in showing conformation and Juniors, which led to breeding. I got my first Heeler in 1996.
  • What makes your program special?

Our breeding program is special because we start with health tested dogs that are also proven in the competition rings, which includes preserving the breeds natural herding instinct. While not all of our dogs are champions, they excel in: herding, obedience, Rally, agility, tricks, barn hunt, lure coursing, dock diving, conformation, Search & Rescue, Therapy, protection and nose work.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Australian Cattle Dog puppies include red speckled and blue. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
