I'm April M., the breeder behind Deep South Labrador Retrievers LLC located in Cantonment, FL. We’re proud of the healthy, affectionate, and behaviorally well-rounded puppies we raise for other families to love! We keep a variety of factors in mind when choosing dogs to breed, including health, temperament, pedigree, and complementary traits, so that puppies can inherit the best of both parents.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    My husband and I started Deep South Labrador Retrievers because we absolutely love this gentle, intelligent, and social breed. We find it so rewarding to find forever homes for our puppies. It is like sharing a piece of our hearts!

  • What makes your program special?

    Our breeding program is special because we produce just one litter at a time and spend an ample amount of time with our puppies, socializing them with sounds and introducing them to lots of people and stimuli. We pour our hearts and souls into their health and development and strive to deliver the best puppies we can. We are proud of what we do!

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from April

April has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and $1,700 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“This price includes AKC registration, First round of Vaccinations, Florida Health Certificate, Socialization, Temperament Test, Puppy Training guide, AKC Literature, microchip, etc. All puppies are the same price regardless of sex and are sold on a AKC limited Registration.”

April may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Elbow Dysplasia (Preliminary)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • DNA Disease Panel, Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), D Locus (Dilute) DNA test

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
