I'm Kristy D., the breeder behind Flying D Kennels located in Fairview, OK. I raise Australian Cattle Dogs with a focus on stability, health, and real-life companionship. My dogs come from proven show lines with extensive health testing, and they’re raised in a busy home with children—so they’re well-prepared for family life.

Kristy has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
After buyers complete the application and screening process, Kristy partners with them to find the best puppy match.
“All prospective homes must complete our puppy application before being considered for a puppy. Applications allow us to learn about your household, experience with dogs, lifestyle, and what you are looking for in a puppy. This helps us determine if one of our puppies would be a good fit for your home. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval or a puppy reservation.”

“Your puppy comes with AKC prepaid registration, prepaid microchip, vet check, BAER testing, 2 rounds of vaccines, 2 months heartworm prevention, deworming & 60 days of pet insurance. Free vet visit. The $200 fee officially holds a puppy from the litter. Fees are non-refundable and applied toward the final puppy purchase price.”
Kristy may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Kristy offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don't hesitate to reach out to Kristy directly.
When you pay and communicate on Good Dog, you’re covered by Payment Protection.
You can drive or fly to pick up your puppy from Kristy.

The first puppy in our WaynexDiamond litter is headed home to Missouri! We are planning our next litters for 2026 so I'd like to take this opportunity to educate in case you are planning to get an Australian Cattle Dog puppy next year, whether from us or another breeder. We do OFA CHIC certification on our dogs for their health testing. What does this mean? OFA CHIC is considered the gold standard for health testing in dogs. It is not just a simple checkup from the vet stating that the dog is healthy. Nor is it as simple as a "full (insert company of your choice) DNA panel". The OFA stands for Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. https://ofa.org/ On their website are 2 important things. The first is that they have a main database that is available to the public where you can look up and verify a dog's health test results for yourself using the dog's registered name or number. Breeders pay money on each test result for them to be submitted into the database. So there may be some breeders who do not care to spend the extra cost for their results to be in the public database which is not necessarily a red flag but you do need to ask to see copies of their health test results in that case and if you are not familiar with what you're looking at, be very careful because I've heard OFA results or test results can be generated by AI now. The second important thing on the OFA Website is a list of each breed's recommended testing that is chosen by the parent club. Let's break this down further into what health testing is actually important in Australian Cattle Dogs: Hip Dysplasia, Elbow Dysplasia, ACVO Eye Exam, prcd-Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), Congenital Deafness, & Primary Lens Luxation. Let me know in the comments if you'd like a mini series of each test broken down into what exactly the health screening is and what results you want to see. Every breeder should be doing these tests on each sire and dam. Please share if you feel this post is relevant.

About Cookie
Cookie is strong-willed, independent, and very determined. He can be sweet and friendly when he chooses. He holds the record for being the fastest dog we've ever had to finish, earning his championship at only 7 months old! He is good with our kids, although he enjoys his own space more than constant attention. His herding instinct is very strong, and he likes to take charge of the work himself. He can be stubborn in training and prefers to do things his own way. He gets along with very tolerant dogs but can be aggressive with other intact males and even pushy with females. Some of his offspring inherit his strong personality, so his offspring are best suited for experienced owners. He stands out for his gorgeous blue mottled coat, stocky build, and commanding head. Most people comment first on how striking he looks in person.

Flying D Kennels reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Cattle Dogs.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
PRA, Rod-Cone Dysplasia 4 (rcd4), PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Primary Lens Luxation (PLL)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Kristy and Flying D kennels worked out well for us and we are so very appy with our new pup, Dale Keota. Kristy answered any questions I had and I was impressed with the health screening done on her dogs. She was also very prompt in meeting us to pick up our pup understanding we had driven a long way and had to drive back. Our pup is smart and beautiful, a natural retriever and very tenacious. A great example of the breed.

Kristy was great to work during the entire process. She’s extremely knowledgeable about the breed and clearly cares about finding the right home for the pups. It was our first time working with a breeder, so we really appreciated her responsiveness and patience with our questions. We definitely plan to work with her again when it’s time to get our new pup another sibling.

Extremely pleased with our puppy from Kristy at Flying D and appreciate the time/care that went into evaluating the pups for good fit to homes. From Day 1, Foss has been an absolute gem who fits right into our home and life. Everyone he's met comments on his behavior and temperament, evidence of the quality of the parents and breeding program at Flying D. Quickest dog we've had picking up commands and tricks even with the ACD stubbornness peeking out. Love him and would definitely recommend Flying D in the future. Worth the travel and cost hands down.

We couldn’t be happier with our new puppy, Boomer, from Flying D Kennels! From the very first message, Kristy was incredibly easy to work with—friendly, responsive, and genuinely passionate about her dogs. She answered all our questions with patience and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. Boomer is everything we hoped for and more—healthy, happy, and full of personality! It’s clear he came from a loving, well-socialized environment. He adjusted to our home quickly and has already brought so much joy into our lives. We’re so grateful to Kristy and Flying D Kennels for helping us find the perfect pup. If you're looking for a responsible breeder who truly cares, look no further. Highly recommend!
