I'm Debra A., the breeder behind Goodfella Boxers located in Bethel Park, PA. Our dogs are bred for health and temperament. Males and Females are health tested prior to breeding, echo, DM, hips, thyroid and holter monitor. We strive to produce a dog who is mentally and physically sound to be a working dog or companion. We are constantly evolving and educating ourselves to breed healthy, stable, dogs with excellent temperaments and to better the breed.
Q. & A. with Debra
Why did you start breeding?
I have always fostered pregnant dogs from shelters, and I have been a boxer owner for 25 years, over the last few years I became involved in working dogs. I believe strongly in promoting health tested temperament tested dogs.
What makes your program special?
I breed only health tested dogs who have excellent temperaments. Each pup is exposed to children, other animals, men, women, and a variety of social environments. They are raised with tons of love and are handled frequently. They have natural tails and ears.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Goodfella Boxers reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Boxers.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Debra was great to work with. Extremely responsive and answered every question we had. I would highly recommend her and her puppies. Our new addition has settled in well with a great temper.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
