I'm Shari M., the breeder behind Gypsee Dreams Doxies located in Egg Harbor City, NJ. As an identical twin, NJ science teacher, and proud Navy mom, I am passionate about learning, service, and caring for others. I'm a dedicated wildlife rehabber and member of the Seashore Dog Club; as well as a devoted dachshund breeder, commited to preserving and celebrating this wonderful breed.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    My journey into breeding began with a personal connection to dogs, particularly the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, a breed known for its intelligence, loyalty, and versatility. Later, this interest evolved into breeding Miniature Dachshunds, driven by a desire to maintain the breed's unique characteristics and ensure their health and happiness.

    As a committed dog breeder and enthusiast of both chesapeake bay retrievers and minitature dachshunds, I am devoted to preserving and celebrating the unique traits of these two wonderful breeds.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include red, chocolate and tan, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Shari

Shari has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Shari partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.

“We endeavor to take customer preference regarding gender, color, and coat type into consideration; but also take care to ensure each puppy is matched with the family that best fits its unique personality and temperament. Because these traits are still developing during the first several weeks of life, we may wait until the puppies are approximately 7–8 weeks old before making final placement decisions. This allows us to carefully evaluate each puppy’s individual characteristics and make the best possible match for both the puppy and its future family.”

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,000 - $1,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Price includes a Health Certificate, proof of vaccinations and deworming, microchip, AKC registration application, litter pedigree, starter food, and a blanket with the dam's and littermates' scent. Puppies are the same price regardless of sex, color, size, or coat type. A deposit reserves a specific puppy, preventing it from being sold to anyone else while arranging final pickup by the buyer.”

Contract & health guarantee

Shari may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Gypsee Dreams Doxies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Dachshunds.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
