Meet the breeder

I'm Samantha S., the breeder behind Hearing Hearts Labradors located in Myakka City, FL. We breed our dogs for health, temperament and appearance. We are committed to providing our families with loving, well socialized and healthy family pets.

Q. & A. with Samantha

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got my 1st purebred dog (Labrador Ret) when my son was 1 year old. Watching our dog with my son and how gentle and easy going she was I just knew I would want another one. Tully's temperament and demeanor was everything to me and we loved her so much I decided to breed her and start raising my own.
  • What makes your program special?

All of my puppies are raised in my home, they are well socialized and exposed to all types of animals and played with daily by my children. We assure all of the health testing is done on the parents and they have their OFA certifications.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), DNA Disease Panel, Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), D Locus (Dilute) DNA test

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
