I'm Tish W., the breeder behind Hollow Log ACDs (North East) located in Auburn, MA. We are passionate about producing well bred, health tested dogs with stable temperaments. We strive to produce dogs that can participate in performance sports or be active companions. Our priority is matching the right home to the right puppy.
Q. & A. with Tish
Why did you start breeding?
Long story short, I purchased my first "well bred" ACD 13 years ago. His breeder turned out to be the worst of the worst, but it led to many great connections in the breed. I became involved in the parent club and realized the importance of educating people about the breed and creating dogs that not only enjoyed working, but were set up to be as healthy as possible through health testing and careful selection of parents. I also feel that it is incredibly important to focus on stable temperaments that will fit into most active homes.
What makes your program special?
Our ACDs are the results of careful selection of our breeding dogs. We create dogs that are both pretty and can work, be it the herding field, in performance sports, or out hiking, biking, and running with their people. We will provide a lifetime of support for dogs from our kennel and hope to build a long lasting relationship with our puppy families.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blue speckled and red speckled. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Snap
Snap is an honest, hard working dog. She strives to be right and always wants to please me. She only has a few more points to finish her Grand Championship (she has all her majors and champion defeats), but prefers to be doing things other than the breed ring! We primarily compete in scentwork and herding, but she is also trained for obedience, rally obedience, dock diving, and tracking.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Hollow Log ACDs (North East) reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Cattle Dogs.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
PRA, Rod-Cone Dysplasia 4 (rcd4), Myotonia Congenita, Australian Cattle Dog Type, Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 5 (NCL5), Border Collie Type, Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 12 (NCL12), Australian Cattle Dog Type, PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Primary Lens Luxation (PLL)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
