I'm Katriina V., the breeder behind Macushla Kennel located in Redding, CA. We raise family-oriented working dogs. Our puppies go on to be great family pets and working companions, hunting buddy, or your next show prospect. We breed both to provide families with loving and capable companions and to improve upon our dogs' fantastic traits with each generation.

Why did you start breeding?
I fell in love with my herding breeds when I got my first two Cattle Dogs as hiking companions. I began to learn about both breeds natural abilities as we were getting our sheep and decided to fine tune what we like in these breeds. We raise AKC Australian Cattle Dogs and ASCA Australian Shepherds- my Aussies are primarily Working bred, from some of the first strong working lines. We love our herding dogs and strive to produce healthy and quality dogs who are biddable, confident and meet the breed standards.What makes your program special?
My foundation bloodlines were carefully researched and sought out, and thank you to some amazing breeders out there we were able to get some of the best dogs out there to start out. Health testing is important to us, and we generally have Genetic, OFA or Penhipp testing done on all of our breeding dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Australian Cattle Dog puppies include blue speckled, blue mottled, and blue. German Shorthaired Pointer puppies include liver roan and liver. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

"Generally all pups sold come with AKC registration. We only offer Full AKC Registration on our best pups who check all boxes around 8 weeks of age to be show and breeding quality. Limited AKC registration will be offered with our other pups who will make excellent family and working dogs. If you want to reserve a puppy before 8 weeks of age, we ask for a $500 non refundable deposit to hold that pup. If for any reason the pup buyer does not like how the pup is developing, they can cancel reservation on that pup and their deposit will roll to the next upcoming litter."

About Sage
Sage is a beautiful and very promising Dog. This boy is from a very special breeding of frozen semen out of NAVHDA bloodlines, with a pedigree full of VC and FC dogs. Sage is registered with NAVHDA and AKC, he is currently in training, and points in the field, great with steadiness, retrieves to hand, and loves water/ water retrieval. He has completed his NAVHDA NA test achieving a Prize 2 under harsh weather conditions and gave his whole heart in this test. This dog has GO, he is very intelligent, biddable, sensitive and sweet. Sage is a wonderful family dog, great with kids and other dogs, and spends his off season training on birds, playing, fetch and being spoiled. We hope to get this guy in the show ring soon!

Rainy is from outstanding NAVHDA lines, Her pedigree is full of FC and VC dogs, and she is also registered with AKC, She has been a fast learner, and points in the field, steady to wing, retrieves to hand, and loves yo swim and do water retrieval. She passed her NAVHDA NA testing with flying colors- Achieving a Prize 1. Rainy has also had fun in the conformation show ring, grabbing herself a RWB at her very first show! This girl is a higher drive, but extremely biddable dog who is on her way to making a fantastic hunting dog, and is a wonderful family dog as well!

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Primary Lens Luxation (PLL)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Our experience with Katrina was excellent. We couldn't be happier with Charlie. Katriina wrote a well written description of both the breed and Charlie as an individual. Her posting made me want to risk taking a long trip to see him. We've had to make astoundingly few corrections in his behavior and training (Aussies will test you). Katriina obviously not only cares about her breed but about the individual dog as well. We're so happy to have Charlie as the new member of our family!

After a long 10 hr drive, I met with Katrina and received my little Ixia. ❤️ She is healthy and happy. She slept the 10hr drive back and, while we're going through the exciting piranha stage, she is learning her French commands and showing her intelligence already. More and more mottling is showing up every day and I'm so excited to see the dog she will become. ♡

Katriina was absolutely amazing! So much knowledge and has raised a beautiful Dog "Leo". It has been 2 weeks since we picked him up and he is absolutely remarkable. Smart intelligent has already picked up on so many different kinds of commands. He stays inside and he already goes to the door when he needs to go to the bathroom after only having him for 2 weeks. I would totally recommend anybody that would like a beautiful, smart, incredible animal. Please get a hold of Macushla Kennel and Katriina. Kate was awesome, she gave us regular puppy updates, pictures, and videos throughout the process. She offered to meet us closer, but we decided to make a road trip out of it.
