Q. & A. with Mars Hill
Why did you start breeding?
We acquired a love for this breed as we added dogs to our cattle farm and have enjoyed having them as our loyal companions and have therefore decided to breed.
What makes your program special?
We've been breeding for over twenty years and have always had a Australian cattle dog on the farm. We have found them to be great loyal companions and so easily trainable.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blue mottled, blue speckled, and blue. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Mars Hill Cattle Dogs reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Cattle Dogs.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
